It's in great shape, just 1 finish chip on the
left side rear sight, looks rarely fired. I'm a rifle person, this is my 1st handgun purchase.
Is this a good deal?
I posted it in the handgun forum, but nobody replied.
I need to know kinda fast, the shop up the street is holding it for a hour.....

Grab it S0ulzer0.  I have one and have never had a problem.  Plus you can get high caps for it.

Thanks for the fast reply, I've been doing some quick research on it, it's pretty nice. I think I will!

They sell new for $489 around here.  There good guns just too big and heavy to carry around.  Mine is a house gun.

Not entirely true, I use mine as a everyday carry gun. 15000+ rnds and never a hiccup.

Where? I'll pay 89 bucks more for new. I like the weight of it, it felt real good to me. I won't be using it much anyway. I mainly shoot with my ARs & AKs.

I can't get them from my distributers for much less than that.

I didn't think it felt all that heavy, I looked at a P99 and a large frame Glock .45, the weight didn't seem much different. Well maybe the Glock was a tad lighter, but it was much lighter than the Colt Commander I was thinking about.... I don't know, it really felt good in my hand. Is the 92FS a good reliable handgun? I'd like your opinion, you said you carry it everyday.

s0ulzer0, The Beretta 92 is as reliable as humans are capable of making anything. I carry concealed anytime I leave the house and when I'm in the mood to pack a 9mm it's my Beretta 92 FS Stainless. You can't go wrong with a Beretta 92.

Standard '92's sell for $569 here

Blued. It has slight wear around the barrel where the slide "loop/hole" is. (Pardon, don't know handgun talk) and one small booger on the left hand rear sight that I can easily touch up.
It comes w/2 10rnd mags, orig box, hard case, factory lock and the manual/paper work.

When I stripped it, it was real clean and it seems to function fine. I say "seems to" because as I said, I don't know squat about handguns or the 92FS. My AR & AK I know, this is all new to me.

A Beretta 92fs was my first handgun.  I didn't really like it that much when I first got it, but it has really grown on me now.  It has NEVER malfunctioned, and shoots great.  I highly recommend.

I have a 92FS that use for Carry / home defense and absolutely love it.  I'm in about the 10,000 round range on it and also have never had a hickup.  Slight wear on the barell finish as you described is normal, if you buy a new one you will have that in no time also, don't worry about it.

New ones are around $560 around here also, I've never seen a new one for $489.

I'd grab it.

I was just told by email (yetman) that the wear on the barrel by the slide ring is not normal, that the barrel should never touch it. Dakota says it's normal and not to worry. Now I'm confused.
Which is it?

I'm going in the morning - right when they open.
I figured I should wait overnight, I'm trying hard
to overcome the "I've Gotta Have It NOW!!" impulse
I get every time I stop by the gun store....

I'll post a photo tomorrow night after I get it and take it to the range.
Sniff.....it's like pictures of the kids.....

Well, not that anybody really cares, but I made a purchase.
Not the Beretta 92FS for $399, but I did some searching and picked up
a Sig Sauer P226 w/1 Hi-Cap 15rnd mag for $399.
Did I do good? I plan to replace the grips w/some Hogues.
