Back in the 50s and 60s there were books and gunsmiths who did nothing but this kind of thing to all kinds of milsurp rifles. Since milsurp did not have the popularity then as it does now, many people sporterized these old milsurp guns

Well I'm going to be contrary and say that I wouldn't mind having that rifle. I wouldn't consider doing such a thing to either of my Garands but I do kind of like the rather "unique" look of this one.
Let's face it guys, Garands haven't alway been held in the high regard they presently enjoy. You can pretty much guess that this rifle was "customized" some time ago, look at the dings in the stock and the style of the stock. I'm guessing late 50s to as late as '70  This is kind of like all the really primo 1911A1 handguns that were customized into target or carry guns.
I would question the sanity of someone who took a decent grade Garand and made a rifle like this one today. But if I had the money to spare, I'd buy that rifle just because it's unique, even kind of cool. Sure as hell I'd have the only one like it in any hunting camp I went to!

So what if I'm trying to sell this gun.
I picked it up like 20 years from some guys who said his dad's best friend did this to Milsurps.

You guys are so quick to judge.

$350 bucks? I'd take it. Hell, the guy at my local gun store wants $750 for his. Being color blind I can't say one way or the other on the stock. Besides, how much can a new stock cost? Can't be more than the $400 dollar difference. By the way, I don't know much about garands so if my post offends anyone, sorry that I don't give a rats ass.

I dunno man...  after looking at that POS, it very well may make the baby Jesus laugh as well.

In some sort of sick, maniacal, I'm-going-insane-because-this-atrocity-is-burned-on-my-retinas fashion, of course...

I'd buy it for $350 and restore to it's proper form. Being a Winchester, it would probably even be a good deal.

Hmmm... well, you know... the more I look at it, I think it might not be too bad if you stripped and bleached the stock and restained it with a color of wood that actually grows on this planet.

And he really needs to lose the jeweled gas cylinder.  "Ain't never shot no deer with it, no suh... cain't figger out why... they just up 'n run when I raises her to mah shoulder..."

for $350, I'd buy it, and return it to it's original glory.  I have a Boyd's stock on the way with nothing to put it on.  I'd get rid of that gas tube and bolt and put an original front sight on it.

It's........ different.....

Personally, I'd get rid of the chromed stuff, redo the wood to brown.....what a stock should be.  If you want to call it art, hey.... it's of a time gone by....(thankfully).

I kinda like it..... It's just so tacky that it's cool. If I bought it I'd leave it just the way it is, funky green wood & all.  Then again I like velvet paintings & lava lamps... If this thing was built back in the 50's-70's then what's done is done.  If somebody did this recently to a CMP Garand they need to be bitchslapped.
