I've seen a lot of discussions here about .223 vs. shotgun vs. handgun for home defense. I thought I saw a poll at one time, but I couldn't find it. Maybe it was too long ago.

So here we have it.

no belt fed catigory?

Mossy 500 for me, her late dad's Les Baer 1911 for Mrs Ops. The CAR in the corner in case 13 rounds don't solve the problem.

Shotgun for inside the house.

Alternate 00-buck and slugs (8 shot gun with 6 in sidesaddle and 4 in speedfeed stock)......Go ahead and flame me for over-penetration but if I shoot at something.....I want it to die or be totally incapacitated quickly. That is more important than over-penetration in my opinion.

ar15 for outside the house.

2 20rd Colt mags filled with Federal 55 grain Trophy Bonded Bear Claws (good hunting round)..... one mag in weapon...one mag in buttstock pouch.

Ion charged Plasma Rifle in the 40 watt range!

It's a shame that NFA items can't be used by other members of the household, or I'd be tempted to have a 14" 11-87 or a 11.5" suppressed AR as my primary home defense gun.

Have any of you figured out a good way around that issue?

I think that would put you in the "I don't use a gun for home defense" category.

"Ion charged Plasma Rifle in the 40 watt range! "

That would be a Phased plasma rifle in 40 watt range.

And, just what you see pal.

:)

Nothing says home defense like "short barreled shotgun"

Postban AR-15A2 20" HBAR.

Why? Because its the only modern firearm I possess, I can count on it being 100 percent functional in a emergency so long as I dont have that Russian ammo in it.

I am working on trying to gather funds to acquire a 1911 .45 and a CCW, they are my next acquisition. Depending on how long it takes to get that, the next long gun purchase will be either a a M1S90 or a M4 flat top. But I will only buy another AR after Sept. 14, 2004. I want a telestock that WORKS.

Can you explain what you mean by this ? Is a NFA item only allowed to be used/handled by the owner ?

How do expect to get valid results to a poll if you don't include categories like "other" or the all important "All of the Above"?
Link Posted: 3/18/2002 1:22:19 PM EDT
Mossberg Bullpup 12 ga. short and savage

They can be used/handled only under the direct supervision of the registered owner.

You can't just leave ye ol' belt gun laying around for junior or Mrs. Gunnut to use when you're out.

Maddog, one way is to incorporate, and make each family member an officer of the corp. Of course, minor children still couldn't have possession without an adult corp officer present.....
