Somebody invades your space often enough & the reality of true vulnerability becomes rather painfully obvious, even to the grossly liberal. My local gun shop was packed for a few months after 9/11.

BTW - I'm probably preaching to the choir, but - ever notice how the overwhelming majority of gun control proponents are rather well-heeled and secluded/protected from the world? Many even have their own personal security. Maybe the "proletariat" have too much freedom for the taste of the "bourgeois"?
