This gun here: (full size at bottom of page)
www.kimberamerica.com/CDP_Series.htm

Brand New, from dealer. Is $1,000 a good price on this gun? Also, what markings can I look for on the gun to tell if its the old Type I or new Type II saftey? (I have read some bad press on the Type II safeties). Thanks

I paid 1,074 in WA state for the Pro CDP in the picture above the full size model you are considering. It was a fair price for this area.

Can't help you on the trigger question but I got mine over a year ago and have had no problems with it.

I paid $999.00 for one in the Phoenix area, but have since found it for just a little over $800.00

Very nice gun, but you do pay for it. My LEGP 1911($600.00) isn't quite as refined, and doesn't have the beautiful trigger pull the Kimber does.

I shot the Kimber slightly better than the LEGP, mostly due to the lighter trigger pull. One thing to be carefull on with the kimber. The recoil spring is very stiff. The first time I took it apart, I shot the recoil spring plug (forgot technical name) into next week! The cats thought it was a great toy though.

Can anyone tell me about the markings on the gun for the Type II series?

If it's a Series II Kimber, it will be designated as such on the slide.

I got my Custom CPD for $950 at a local gun store. I love it. You will not be disapointed if you get one. The full size combined with the CDP features is great.

I believe that all of the CDPs have the same price.

prices locally seem to run from 850 -1100., depending on individual dealer pricing. master dealer prices seem to be a little less, prices here seem to have gone up from the 850 range to around 950 over the last few months, and started dropping again.
the series II is stamped on the side. i have both, no problems with them.

I got my Custom Eclipse II from Steve @ Scottsdale Gun Center 480-874-1383 for $900 shipped a while back. I think he's got the CDP's for $879 or something like that. I've purchased a whole bunch of guns from him and his prices are often the lowest I can find.

I call him almost on a daily basis to check up on prices and new purchase...lol Tell him George sent ya!
