Hears my dumbass question for today.
Is there any mechanical difference btwn AR-15 lowers and AR-10 lowers? Can I put a 7.62 upper on a -15 lower?

Well, the magwell on AR-10 is longer than AR-15, so it wont fit.

..and because the bolt travel to eject the .308 case is longer so is the upper.

They're the same design and use some of the same parts but they are basically 2 different sizes.

Go to www.armalite.com and look through their catalog.  Common parts are marked.
