I just can't leave my prebans alone!  I just have to fire those babies!  Am I alone?  Should I just leave them in the safe to increase in value?  How about the rest of you?  Shoot or don't shoot.

I shoot mine. I'm never selling it, and my wife will get enough money from the insurance. She won't need a few extra bucks off a mint pre-ban.
My gun safe is not a museum.

Yup!...I sure do.

And I do have some that I kept as NIB.

why hsve it if you are not going to use it. I'm a shooter, not a collector!

I just put together my first post ban so I don't have to use the pre-Bees for compitition.

Now I can configure them all ugly with tele-stocks and chrome go fasters and stuff, but hell yes I will still shoot them.

I shoot mine as often as I can. I can't imagine it just sitting in the closet collecting dust. I'd feel so sorry for it.

I shoot my prebans all the time.  Of course, I'll admit I have picked up postban versions of a couple of them on the pretense that it will save wear and tear on my prebans.  But deep inside, I think it was just another excuse to get another gun . . .

Of course -- why the hell not?

What is the point of owning a pre-ban weapon, that can be accessorized to taste, then just put it away?

That's like buying a car, dressing it up, and sticking it in the garage.  Who in their right mind does that?

I shoot all of my Pre-bans except the one that remains unfired NIB.

I have to fire them. Love the way they shoot... Plus they are the only type I own.

All of them, all the time (except that stinkin AK)

Yes I do.  You are not likely to wear one out in your lifetime.  Maybe a barrel, but they are easy to replace.  To have is to shoot is to enjoy.  Watch-Six

No reason not to shoot it unless you are trying to sell it unfired.  Even if I put 2 million rounds through it and somehow did wear out the lower, it can be repaired.

Posolutely, absitively. If you keep it stored away, you'll only benefit from any profits generated after it's sold & gone. The real pleasure is owning & shooting it. Certain things in this world possess a value that transcends words or $$$. Being able to own & operate a preban, customized to your tastes (and hampered by very few limits), is definitely one of the funner things you can do in life, IMO.

Also, consider that, if the ugly trend of gunbans continues unchecked, this generation could conceivably be the last to have the freedom to enjoy these fine works. So, don't waste it by permanently parking it on a shelf or in a safe. Shoot it, take care of it, and repeat the cycle throughout your life.

If potential abuse concerns you, consider having it surface-treated with Birdsong, ARS-Metacol 3, or similar finishes to enhance its life and add an extra measure durability.

Prebans are nice to have.  However why would you buy and gun and not shoot it?  To help increase it's value?

If you want to make money invest in mutual funds and stocks.

Unless the pistol or rifle is a collectors item maybe like 120 years old and 1 of 5, if you got it shoot it.

Just my .02
