i bought a Taurus PT1911 from a friend for a pretty cheap price. so i decided to make it kinda like a tinker/project gun. I wanted to blue out the lettering on the "billboard" on the side of the slide. I used birchwood casey perma blue paste and applied as instructed. well the whole area that the paste sat on is now a diffrent shade then the rest of the slide and it stands our worse than the billboard did. is there a way i can remove or lessen the discoloration effect?? maybe polish with a gun cloth or something??

I reoiled but it still stands out

Blueing is an oxidation process that chemically changes the metal. You could try another kind of bluing solution and you'll likely get a different color, but you're never going to match the factory color of the rest of the gun. You'll have to do the whole gun for that.
