Yeah, I do. I went a little harder on the front and back strap and light on the sides. Then I took a sanding block to the sides to help knock down the grip's...well...grip.

Nice uniform pattern! Definitely keep that screw you made around for future projects.

Has anyone tried this on the grip section of a polymer rifle stock yet?

Thinking about trying this out to add some grip instead of using some sort of resin.

I did it on both my G36 clone forearm and on a Savage .17 stock. Unfortunately I don't have them anymore and I never took pics of them. But it's the same exact process.

I enjoyed doing this.

I'm considering doing a few backstraps and trying to sell them.

AEnemaBay:  I used you method would you have any issue with me selling a few?

Thanks

Go for it man! If anyone wants to use this method for anything they can think of, do it. More power to you if you profit from it. Good luck!

Would love to see what the modified screw head you guys use looks like. Speaking of which, you could probably sell modified screws for people to do their own custom stippling.  Like $5 to $10 per tip. Just a thought.

I'm working up to the whole frame.

Also did some KAC rail panels that turned out just like Devilock's. The golf ball pattern did not make a big difference on the rail panels, but the OP's method sure does.

ETA: Finished the front strap stippling:

That looks great. Which method do you think gives a more solid grip this, one or the job that fourrobert3 did in his thread using the Harbour and Freight flat tip on his M & P 9 ? 4R3's job used the flat tip and has the appearance that it would stick in your hand very well. Your job gives me the same impression. All I know is I prefer the pistol to lock and stay there. Looks like a hard choice between the two.

I haven't tried his method, so it's hard to compare. However, the above method is very solid especially if you do the entire frame like my most recent pic.

Grip inserts are cheap, so it may be best to stipple an insert using each method then compare the two directly.

hell of a job amigo.  I think I am going to try some on my xtm panels and my pmags.  Still running the black magic skate tape on the glocks for the moment.

This belongs to a buddy: Cavalry Arms lower that has had it's length of pull shortened by almost two full inches, grip reduction/reshape, trigger guard undercut, grip stippled and had the outside of the magazine well stippled.  All that was followed by some CeraKote OD and a custom made rubber butt plate.

Only the right side, front and back straps of the grip were stippled so the texture does not drag on skin, clothing or gear.

anyone done pmags?

I just finished my rail covers and AFG, but was curious if doing my pmags might tear up or wear down my molle pouches. . . .

I have all mine done. No wear visible on my pouches, and they have been stippled for about 6 months now.

Got bored last night and decided to try my hand at stippling. I used a craftsman dual wattage soldering gun with the included "craft" tip that is pictured. I practiced on the G3 grip first and I was very happy with how it turned out, so I decided to try it on my main carry piece, the P3AT. I have sanded it very lightly since these pics, just to get rid of the very sharp points and I LOVE the way it feels. It took me about 15min to do the G3 grip and about 45 min to do the Kel-Tec. I'm Hooked!

I stippled some of my KAC railcovers today.  Been wanting to try this for a while but was hesitant because I
didn't know how hard it was.  Now, I want to stipple more!  VERY easy to do.  I dremeled off the ribs before
I stippled them.  I put them back on my carbine and wow!  You can't hardly pry it out of your hands.  Makes
a huge difference.  I'll try to snap some pics and post them in a few days.  Think I'm gonna stipple all my
rail covers eventually. This was very fun.  Thanks!!!

Yeah, I do think it helps.  I'm still running the standard length mag release and it's not an extreme bevel, but gives a little extra for getting a positive release.  I don't like extended mag releases since I do carry IWB a lot of the time and this gun does see some off-duty carry.  But the biggest difference I saw was with undercutting the trigger guard.

No, no tactical function, but I do concede occasionally to aesthetics

You may have to refinish after the bevel.  The frame on the 19 was refinished with duracoat.  You may be able to sand and smooth it down well enough to get away with not refinishing.
