For those that asked all of which I emailed back- it will work with the PVS31 but requires a special bracket that evidently they are pretty proud of.... cost of bracket listed in email replies for those that asked about the PVS31 bracket.

Have several units in bound myself. Will get some pics posted of them mounted up on BNVDs when they arrive as soon as I have a few minutes. Thanks :)

The guys at Shot confirmed they do not sell the Ecoti to civies.

Have not heard that but the standard 1 year warranty does apply to them. They haven't offered a longer warranty than that.

The ones I've had since 2010-11 are still working fine.

There was a little confusion on the BNVD adapter thing, I've sent emails to all that ordered the bnvd adapter. Some may not need it.

So if you have a standard BNVD, i.e, NOT an Ultralight or a MINI BNVD, you do NOT need an adapter.

If you are using it with an Ultralight or MINI BNVD then you will need an adapter and the bad news is the adapter is going to add a little bit to the time on the order. All the other COTI orders have been shipping really quick, 1-2 days.

For a regular PVS14 assuming it's not some kabobbleation from Kerplakistan and uses standard PVS14 optics, the COTI will work fine.

I have to assume the RNVG will be fine then also- I don't have or sell rnvgs so I'm hesitant to say for 100% certain. Seems like an RNVG owner called or posted that he has a COTI and it works fine with the RNVG.

The PVS31 requires a special adapter that is north of $300. just for the adapter They are evidently very proud of the PVS31 adapter.

The BNVD adapter is for the USSOCOM BNVD family, AKA the L3Harris AN/PVS-31A, and also works with the GPNVG-18, etc.

Any unit using PVS-14 style optics including the RNVG, DTNVG, and PVS-14 BNVDs from Night Vision Devices require the PVS-7/14 adapter.

The PVS-15 and Marine Corps SBNVG (Elbit Systems of America F5032 BNVD) require their own proprietary adapters, though you can sometimes get adapters to work with different optics setups using shims and/or the rubber the sleeve that should come with the adapter.

There is no adapter that will work properly with lobed ANVIS-style translating objective lenses, though the PVS-7/14 adapter may clamp backwards over rotating AVS-9 objectives depending on the lobe configuration, as well as older low-profile AVS-6 translating lenses.

Hopefully this clears up any confusion about the adapters and which one to get.

Alright gents, let me go ahead and put some end to some of this speculation before it becomes a raging conflagration.

BLUF: Safran/Optics1 is discontinuing the AN/PAS-29A, EuroOptic has purchased the program and all remaining parts and inventory. I do not have any additional information on what extent to which they will be continuing to support the program, however my understanding is that Optics1 will provide product support for a period of one year, after which responsibility will fall on EuroOptic to support or not support.

I do not, at this time have further information on when if ever the E-COTI will become commercially available again. The COTI program and the E-COTI program are separate programs, and TNVC is a vetted and authorized direct commercial distributor for Safran/Optics1 and those whom have communicated with me personally know that there are several lines of effort we have been working on directly with Optics1 that are ongoing.

Optics1 has been awarded several large-scale, but not necessary publicized heavily (besides the USMC SBNVG) military and government contracts based on the E-COTI architecture and is focusing on production and support of these products for the foreseeable future. However this demand from the government sector means that it is difficult to justify and divert production to the commercial sector—it’s not a “we’re better than you” position, rather one that is based solely on the current production demands of the manufacturer, as was the decision to finally discontinue for good the AN/PAS-29A.

Beyond that, my feelings have always been clear, I am a huge fan of the AN/PAS-29A COTI and it is a tremendous capability, and these units are fantastically priced, I would encourage anyone that is interested in this capability to purchase one at these prices.

However, as a company we were uncomfortable committing to purchasing the entire product line without any manufacturer support under these conditions, which is why we have discontinued the sales of these units and declined to take over the program. The E-COTI remains available at this time for government and agency sales to qualified customers—again, not because we, or Optics1 hates you, it’s simply the production demands at this time on already contracted orders and government needs.

While The COTI has been discontinued by Optics1, I remain more than happy to assist anyone that purchases one from any source in whatever way that I am able in terms of information and experience with these units, publicly or privately, I just cannot provide material support. For those customers who have purchased AN/PAS-29A COTIs from us in the past, I am still using units that were built in 2010, however, we will continue to try to provide the best support that we possibly can for these systems and more importantly our customers into the future.

The manufacturer has at times in the past done civilian sales of this product and at times has not.

They confirmed at Shot show this January that the E coti was no being sold to civilians, "The Captain" made that abundantly clear.

They have a 1 year warranty. They had the same 1 year warranty back in 2010'ish when I first got one. My first unit and another unit I bought back from a customer during one of the "we aren't selling to civilians now" phases a little while after that are still functioning just fine.

Euro and NVD bought a ton of these, hence the deal. They have a 1 year warranty.

There could definitely be a new model coming out- will it be  available to civilians???? Who knows and no one can legitimately speculate on that.

Is the thermal as good as say an IR patrol or something?

No, but keep in mind the idea is to mate it with your NV to create a FUSION system, no one buys these for simply a stand alone thermal and I've had that conversation 47 times today that people shouldn't buy these for a stand alone thermal, but to create a FUSION system for their Night vision they already have.

700 were purchased to be exact.
