We're pretty stoked about em!  As I've me mentioned, we've had them for awhile. We'll get some video soon as time allows as we have several Shot surprises coming up.

What I can say about the new DTNVS is what you see in the pic is a very compact goggle. 2.9" x 4.1" x 4.3". Weight of our unit (it might have shaved some weight since that time) is around 17.5oz without a battery.

Has auto off articulation arms as well as flip up off. More to come...

A competitor to the UL-BNVD, I presume?

Have to wait for SHOT or can you give details here as well?

Those arms look fragile as hell.

I’m just trying to figure out what on earth it actually offers over a DTNVG besides an ounce and a half of weight savings? I don’t see a gain control knob. What gives?

The pivoting hinge points may look fragile but I can assure you they’re going to be a lot tougher than something like a PVS-31, the boys at AIB know a thing or two about designing articulating goggles.

Besides the weight savings and new look, one upgrade that the DTNVS has over the DTNVG and other goggle systems out there is a leap forward in modularity and maintenance. From a builder/assembler stand point the DTNVS will come with long term follow on support in mind. and while the DTNVG is not difficult to build, in-depth maintenance can be a bit of a problem. With the DTNVS.....you do not have to worry about that.

Glad to hear and I can unequivocally state, no other Class 1 pointer has ever had these on-board features we are about to show. It's been a long time coming and something I have envisioned since we launched the very first Class 1 with Laser Devices around 5-6 years ago.

I think it’s gonna blow that out of the water, price wise.

I personally can’t wait. I have 2 MP5 clones that each need one of these.

That sucks. I like my breach and PTS 233 for what they are and was looking forward to the next version.

Incidentally, the PTS233 is showing back ordered on FLIR website with expected due date of 1/1.

ok, color me intrigued.

i assume a single IR laser.  so, laser inline with bore or offset?

also, assume its as nice quality as the ITAL/OTAL but lots better than the Lasermax UNI-IR?

also assuming standard Crane plug?

I wouldn't. The maximum weight savings involves adding more expensive Ether optics in addition to the new housing. It'd be good when we find out the new total weight fully installed with -14 glass, which will be the most commonly sold.

Same reason I didn't spring for the UL upgrade when I had the BNVD-SG. I was tempted but it really wasn't worth the $$ IMO other than having the newest thing. But buying new from scratch I'd go for the new one (of anything).

Already have the ether glass too, so I am not as worried about weight. But still not worth it yet, if they added the lemo port I would FO so hard though.

Vapor, just can't handle the disappoint.  I would rather attend a large gun show or NRA show, where the things I touch, I will actually be able to purchase.

SEMA isn't as bad, as they are actually marketing things that are available in that industry.

According to FLIR we just had a meeting with... For some odd reason the {"other thread was locked"} so others here might want to know as we head into Shot Show.

Going forward they will only have SCOUT, SCION, PVS, LSX/R and BREACH products available for purchase for consumers. They will not be LE or Mil restricted as some other rumors have surfaced. All their warranty support stays the same. Hope this helps with the info traffic.
View Quote
what I got from the other thread which isn't tech (?) wasn't that the scout, breach, etc would be .mil restricted.

Rather, I understood it as the scout, scion, breach, etc would still be available to civilians, while FLIR continues to provide their other TWS stuff exclusively to .mil, .gov customers. ie. other than those specific products, FLIR will restrict everything else to LE/MIL.

In order for something to be "not tech," there has to be a definition of "tech."  I'm not aware that site staff/mod team has defined that term. The closest you could come would be the COC rules "Specific to the Tech Forums," which state: "These forums are to share information and as a result, trolling, heated arguments, insulting others, etc will not be ignored."

Information was being shared.

There was no trolling, no heated arguments, and no insults of others.

Other thread was tech af and should be reopened.

Bedtime edit: It's unlocked!

Only recent reference to 16mm tubes size/weight comparisons I found was this on the Night Goggles page - maybe one of those guys knows a little more about the smaller ones and what they put them in other than the MINI-Bs - https://www.nightgoggles.com/shop/night-vision/photonis-4g-echo-gen-2-image-intensifier-tube/
16mm tubes have been designed to meet the SWaP requirements of the modern armies: reduced Size, Weight and minimum Power consumption, with state-of-the-art performance. The weight of the 16mm Image Intensifier Tube has been reduced by 30 grams compared to standard ANVIS 18mm tube while its volume size has been reduced by 40%.
Here's that IG post you mentioned (just in case it disappears like the 'The Cord' stuff did last week...)
