Besides the benefit of less power consumption, less weight for the core and battery supply, the smaller required germanium lens diameter results in significant cost savings too, price of entire unit is about 20% LESS than a larger pixel core with larger lens system just from the cost of the lens alone.

Wonder what the MTBF is on these new denser cores?

Also, does it mean or or less recoil that they can take?
The pics posted earlier looks like they have a few dead pixels already.  Not that this matters much as most units will have them at some point no matter what.

Simple, they will continue to innovate new exciting products like the Lepton cores, and the just new released this week Muon core!

I like what I am hearing here on this, I wonder how long before digital is available from TNVC...

It's not the sensors, it's the DISPLAY technology that needs to catch up. Until your eye can view a digital display as a true "pass-through" image (like i^2) there will always be issues. I'm sure that day will come (and I hope it comes quickly), but right now I've never seen a digital display that I can navigate comfortably with on my head. Viewing and targeting, sure, but it's still a very unnatural process.

Ok, all this scientific talk about pixels and catheters and shit makes my head spin.

I love my tnvpvs14 and I don't have enough time to enjoy it as much as I'd like but all this makes me just want to spend more money I don't have.

For the clip-on function is it only for 1× or can you also use it with magnification?  Either way this appears to be a ton of scope for the money.  Especially that 12 mic sensor

There is new and exciting thermal and digital stuff in the next few years from many, that makes my head spin. We're at a crossroads right now what will be some breakthrough technology. My money is on digital as I've watched with a keen eye over the years.

Any hard launch date or is this "vaporware" as well?

Sachal -

With all due respect this thread is about an MK2 version of a scope, meaning that we know this about the IR hunter weapon sight based on MK1 DELIVERY TO MARKET.

* It withstands recoil from 338 Lapua Magnum class rifles

* It functions as a standalone thermal weapon sight OR a clip on

* It has been used successfully on some pig hunts

* It is priced well for the features it provides compared to other thermal sights

I sure hope you recognize that the Vaporware tag doesn't apply here............

What was the verdict on which optics (and at what magnification) are compatible w/ these as clip-ons?  Pretty flipping exciting if they work as advertised, especially for the price.

Especially for a 19mm lens, a 35mm lens must be awesome!

Wow.  This looks like a great product.  If it is as durable and reliable as the FLIR RS64-35 I have, they will have a huge hit on their hands.  It should keep the pressure on FLIR to upgrade reticles and continue product enhancements.

If you were going to use this as both a hand held viewer for detection and as a dedicated scope, which lens would you go with?

I have used the LS64.  The field of view is  18° × 14°.  It works well.

The 35mm Mark II datasheet says the "base FOV" is 12 degrees.  There seems to be a number missing for a direct comparison.

Were all the pics on this page one without zoom? I'm thinking I might want a 19mm lens due to my close range pig hunting.

The images do look about ten times better than any other consumer thermal pics I've seen on the interwebs.  I would love to look at one side by side w/ my LWTS, these are the first web images I've seen that look even remotely close to what I see when I look through mine.  I know web pics aren't the best judge, but they do tell some of the story.  I've never seen a FLIR RS pic that looks even half as good as the ones above of the Hunter Mk2.  Only time will tell what the durability will be like...  of the unit AND the company behind it.

Not sure if it was posted and I missed it, but by chance do you know any environment numbers from those pictures? Such as time of day, temp, etc. Thanks
