11.5 and 14.5 inch "24 hour" blasters... I'm now an optic riser zealot, worshipping at the alter of the chin weld, repeating the mantra "woe is he who speaks of height over bore, for it is not an issue past seven meters..."
For those that are wondering, if you like the redback one mount height but want to use an eotech, a larue LT101 5/8 inch riser and an EXPS 3-0 will put the center of the EOTech optic window in the same plane as the redback one mount puts the aimpoint micro. I had an EOTech XPS which looked more normal, so I put that on there instead as the window is big enough where you can put the reticle in the top of the window and have the same chin weld. I do wish the illuminator was a little better on the DBAL-A3s, I got spoiled with PEQ-2s and DBAL-D2s Attached File Attached File Attached File |

TAPS mounted directly to the Geissele HK416 SMR and connected to an ATPIAL and Surefire M600. Tan lower was temporarily swapped out for something with a little more... "range of motion."
The HK416's taller top rail allows the TAPS to mount directly to the 10:30 position, tucked up nice and pretty as can be under the ATPIAL, no modifications required other than using slightly longer screws, and the M-LOK T-nuts mount directly to the SMR cooling slots. One of my favorite features of the SMR/HK416, everything integrates beautifully and tucks up nice and slim--even with the light and TAPS, the profile of the weapon is never any thicker than the ATPIAL's width. At least for what you pay for the HK, you get these little luxuries. ~Augee |
