You are looking at an original, an antique.  Do you intend to be a serious(and deep pockets) collector? Do you intend to shoot, in that case there are many many many good reproductions of old guns and also modernized ones.

Also, have your friend sign up at the muzzleloadingforum  Lots of good info.  Also, if you frequent the gunshops and or find a local group you can get into it fairly cheap.  I picked up a spanish version of the cva long rifle flint lock (cheap one with a two piece stock) at  a local gunshop for about $200.  The hard part is powder as hazmat kills you unless you are getting 25 pounds or more.
