I told you that "I moved back" to the US of A for good "Just" 10 months ago; well, these were one of the gifts that I made myself for this. So, these - my son and I - will shoot them both on the next fourth of July. It's going to be our first fourth of July in the USA as residents (not only citizens). I really wanted to mark this event. It's our commemoration of our own Independence. Highly symbolic to us. Finally free in America. One for my son, one for me. Will shoot one load of BP (no ball) in the air. Then clean them for 30 minutes (you know black powder don't you). That's it (smiles) |

Spax,
. Is that a real one? Authentic? Because it does look so (so I take it that 1863 is the actual year). Gorgeous and in stupendous condition. Astonishing. Your friend, Phil (Fil) |

He did leave part of the sieral number so it can't be passed as a authentic down the line. |

Brown Bess(es).
To someone like me, Brown Bess is THE musket all others are judged by. Three here, two Pedersoli (in my opinion, the two commercial best replicas available, not considering the far more expensive custom made ones) and an India Brown Bess Ship's Carbine. From top to bottom, 2nd model (short), Carbine (Cavalry) and the Ship's Carbine. "Brown Bessing" by SoloDallas, on Flickr |

Details on the pistols? The one on the bottom is for sale (and rather cheaply so) at Loyalist Arms and it's called the EIC (East India Company) model. I strongly suggest to deal with Loyalist Arms (Canada) as they are very reliable. The pistol is well done. The other one is really hard to find. It was made in the 1970s and it was meant to be George Washington's own favorite flintlock (replica) ever. |

Rifle or musket? Caliber?Did you build it or buy it? Not like there are a lot of parts around for it. Looks like a light colored walnut. Is it finished or in the white still? Typically these were very expensive to maintain or buy for that matter and most examples were extravagantly engraved and detailed. Plan on doing engraving? This pistol took me about 7 months to build in my spare time. I don't have enough pics to show the build progress but it would be a big thread. Maybe I'll do one for the next rifle on my bench which is a .58 cal 42" beck rifle. I'll post some pics of this build in progress. |

Yeah, I realized after I posted that I've changed it up. In that photo is a Krag, a No.1 Mk. III, then an 1873 in .44-40, a 1878 Trapdoor, a Sharps-Borchardt, and a Martini-Henry Mk. I/II. Also a 1849 Colt and an 1877 Lightning. I've since replaced the SMLE and Krag with a 1883 12a Coach Gun and a 1873 Remington Rolling Block in .44-77 Sharps. |

Like I said great collection. It's funny how history wouldn't be history without guns. People are sheep except for people who know history and guns.i dont see the lightning. Isnt the 1877 lightning a pistol right?
