I keep hearing that the Ruger BX mags are not very good(YouTube) so who makes good 20/25rd mags for Ruger?

Also, do the GSG 100rd drums work well?

Thanks!

Mine suck. But mine are very early in the release.  I think they are better now.  Tactical innovations haven't let me down.

Can't speak to the 20/25+ round magazines.

The 10/15 round Ruger OEM magazines work well.

The BX mag I have was junk. It’s an early model.

I have a number of the 25 round with Butler Creek steel feed lips that all work great.

My bx mags are money. And I have a bunch of them

Seems like the 10/22 is a factor.

One gun runs fine with certain mags, the other jams like crazy with them. Tolerances maybe?

I have not experienced any problems with any of the 10, 15, or 25 round BX mags I own, and I got the 25s around the time they first came out.  I have used them across 3 10/22s and the Ruger American Rimfires I owned.

My only complaint is the 25 rounders are pretty long.  The 15 round models are a good compromise for me.

Tactical Innovations TI25 mags are the most solid well built mags I have ever seen. Worth every penny

The BX/25 that I have owned have been awesome.

I have used 3-4 over the years and have 4-5 still in the clam shell plastic. The 3-4 that I have shot have been 100% reliable.

The only one I have (BX25) fits VERY snugly in my 10/22 and won't go into my RAR at all.  It's about four years old.  Have they fixed this with the new ones?

I don't have any of the BX25s but I have have had great luck with the Butler Creek steel lip mags. I've had a couple of the plastic lip ones that were less than impressive.

The BX25s I have work fine in my 10/22s.  the first one I got was tight in the rifle but fine in the Carbine, the later 2 were perfect in both.  The problem one - sides rubbed, problem solved itself  after being used only in the  carbine for a bit.  Never had feeding issues with them.

Agreed. They have four leveling set screws on the top of the mag. You can adjust them to make the mag fit tighter or looser to the rifle. They also allow you to change the feed angle of the round by setting the front screws lower(or higher) than the rear. It doesn't take long to fine tune the mag to your rifle and once it's done there's no need to adjust after that. In addition to plastic they're also available with an aluminum body anodized in different colors. They're the best 25 round 10/22 mags IMO.

I actually have a pretty decent opinion of the BX25s and BX15s as well. The work without any issues way more often than not IME. I did find though that certain brands of ammo simply will not work for whatever reason. Specifically high end Lapua ammo comes to mind.

I have one bx-25. It’s a POS. It may be an earlier one, I don’t know how to tell. I bought it new in package at a gun show 2 years ago. It is sloppy in the mag well. It has issues feeding if it is loaded more than 10 min before using. It won’t feed if it is being rested on, slightly touching ANYTHING.

I bought that one for plinking and if it worked better I would have bought 3 more.

I have had zero issues and love the factory 10rd rotary mags. I just wanted to be able to plink off 100 rds without changing mags 10 times. I’ll have to try the steel lipped butler creek ones or a new bx25 or bx25x2. I might have just gotten a bad one.

I have both black and clear sided BX25's I bought this year. One of my clear ones causes feed issues every now and then.

I recently bought four HTA 10/22 magazines. Put about 100 rounds through each and didn't have any problems. They're not much more expensive than bx-25s, have windows, and you can get them in different colors. Definitely worth considering.

I just picked up a Ruger Charger and along with the BX-15 I picked up a 10 round rotary and the GSG 110 round drum.
Good copper jacketed ammo like CCI runs fine in all of them. Some lead nose Federal and Remington Yellow Jackets will jam in the BX-15 and the drum but run fine in the 10 round rotary.
As mentioned above, it's whatever YOUR Ruger likes, the same mags that run fine in mine might not run at all in yours.

BTW, the drum is great! only a few junky brands of ammo will cause occasional jams, overall it's reliable & easy to load. Pushing or pulling the bottom of the drum doesn't seem to affect feeding. I like it a lot better than the Black Dog 50 round drum for my Beretta ARX 160, which will misfeed if you grab the drum while firing.

I own a dozen of the BX-25 magazines and the BX-10 magazines.  They all run great in both my Tactical Target and Take Down model.  I can't remember the last time any of my Ruger rifles got jammed because of misfeeds or magazine malfunctions.

Interesting.  I hadn't heard of issues with the BX's (not something I really follow).   I've got 4 BX-25's and they've all been rock solid.

I had a couple of the knock off extened mags. None of them ran. I was gunna try a bx25 but I haven’t seen any of them run either. In fact last time I had my kid at the range there was a guy with a 10/22 takedown and 4 bx25s. None of them ran. He actually threw one of them in disgust. I’ll stick with the 10rounders

I was really hoping someone would start making coping of the old bingham taylor ltd mags when the ban ended.  Unfortunately no one has.

Not my pic, but this mag and adapter are my favorite.

In my 10/22.  I only have three left.

Only problem I've had with the 15 bx-25 mags I use is federal "value pack" bulk hollow points seem to get jammed in them, the hollow kind of catches on the front lip sometimes and jams something fierce. To be fair, none of my other guns like it either so there is that. Can't wait for that 5k I bought to run out .

Strange how different guns prefer different ammo.  My 10/22 doesn't like anything but Federal bulk pack ammo.  A mag full of Rem Golden Bullets leads to an exciting afternoon of "guess where the bullet's gonna go"
