I've been looking to pick up one of these and so far I see 2 options to choose from, the one from Ruger and the tribute model. The Tribute model is a bit too red for my taste but looks to be the better option. Am I missing any other options?

The reddish stain on mine wiped off with some lacquer thinner leaving a decent blonde finish underneath.

That could be sharp.

Would you post a pic when you get it installed?

Thanks,

The stocks are pretty decent...but the stain is lousy.  Definitely go out now and get some stain stripper and the stain of your dreams and have at it.  They clean up nice:

where do you get the magazines?  I guess the M1 stock doesn't accommodate 10/22 mags?

Damn that looks good desertmoon. I'm looking for more of a walnut finish myself.

Is that the mag cover that slips over the Ruger mag or a aftermarket?

The one's I've been looking at will accommodate the regular and aftermarket mags but they make an M1 mag cover that slips over to give it a proper look. It does not add any capacity however.

Those are little fake mag extensions that you glue on.  I roughed up the contact points and used Acra Glass Gel to glue them on to regular 10/22mags.  I really like them.

It is a really good setup.  Wish it was stained right stragiht out fo the box.  BTW: these are from Taiwan which surprised me...not pleasantly....but they do work work...aside from the stain.

I know they are not straight, but the 15 round BX mags look pretty good in the M1 Carbine stock IMHO. The 25's are too long and the 10's are too short, but those 15's look kinda cool even with the curve.

Bump, and also any thoughts on going aftermarket vs. the distributor exclusive version that comes in an M1 Carbine stock?

been thinking between the M1 carbine, and the full mannlicher style.
