I've heard of it..I suspect that it is .22lr necked down to .17 caliber like the popular .17HMR (Hummer) is 22wmr necked down to .17 caliber but I'm not sure..anybody know anything about this caliber ? I've also heard it called .17 Aguila

I've heard of the .17 Aguila, but I thought it was bigger than the .17 HMR. Something more like a .223 necked down to .17 cal. Suposedly something like 5000 FPS. No that is not a typo, I did mean 5000. I could be wrong though.

The .17 aguila is a .22LR case necked down to .17.  Carries a heavier projectile than the HMR.  They were supposed to be available this summer.  (I wrote the folks at Aguila) Apparently these are more of a rumor than anything.  They are always supposed to be released and never are.  Hope springs eternal and I keep watching...
I believe they are the same or nearly so to the .17 high standard.
Check rimfirecentral.com too for more info.

I think the centerfire .17rem is a .223 case necked to .17.  Very fast round.
