Low and behold the Level IV test. Odd enough Youtube deemed this one LONA'D (limited or no ads), even though it's the exact format as the level III test. I'm willing to bet they'll probably tell me I "exceed brand safety thresholds" even though there's nothing defined on YT for such made up bullshit..

So if you took an 30-06 M2 AP in the chest while wearing these plates is it going to break ribs/sternum?

Quoted: At NIJ distance and at the NIJ spec? I don't think so. I am not sure what "survivable" is in terms of broken bones, bruising, or internal bleeding, but NIJ calls for less than 44mm of backface signature. There's a video of a guy on YT taking a hit of 308 point blank while standing on 1 leg, and he was just fine. This guy takes a hit of .308 at point blank (okay 10' or so) to the back, and is apparently just fine moments after. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ji5VpHaNySw View Quote @Buffman_LT1, Are you using that video as inspiration for your next armor test? Seriously though, your videos are excellent and you are appreciated. |

I got the lvl IV and they are the exact same width as my RMA SAPI mediums, but about 1/2" shorter. Maybe I'll go run a tape measure by them to see what the actual measurement is. |

These vs the Hesco 4410 or whatever they have on preorder. Difference and preference? New to armor but looking into getting some

Grabbed 4 earlier at$102 each after the 15% coupon code. There were 66 left in stock when I ordered.
I sprung for the 7.99 standard shipping and was also charged sales tax. Now to find a reasonable carrier. |

What’s with the 1” partial foam edge. Is that normal on plates? Does that make a 10x12 really just 8x10 coverage?

Quoted: Yep, plus with a lot of "10x12", the actual measurment is closer to 9.5x11.5. These are truly 10x12, so in the end its kind of a wash for coverage of actual armor. The foam edge will help some with preventing damage from dropping or other benign impacts to the edges. Any real reason to hesitate getting the III instead of waiting on IV?

Seem like the Level III plate gets a lot of good reviews online. A hangup of mine is size vs a 11x14. I'm a big guy...6'5" and about 218 (and currently losing weight). Collarbone to navel is 17", nipple to nipple is right at 11". To me it seems I should focus on 11x14 but as a starter set, I hate to pass up a deal as I don't have anything right now. Obviously would need a carrier, which are also hard to find right now. Thoughts? I know I will pay a bit more for 11x14 which may put armor out of my reach right now. Hate to skimp on something that may save your life...but is smaller better than nothing?

I had 11x14 Steel's to start (now they sit it the truck), but don't feel "under armored" with 10x12 at all. Then there's the weight/cost/availability *at this point in time*, carrier selection/avaiability for 11x14's, and, based on carrier - mounting the firearm in the shoulder pocket with the wider 11x14's based on plate cut. Only you can decide, but if you are bit financially "liquid" - you could get the 10x12's, and if they don't work, have them for the girlfriend/wife/kid? |

Quoted: How long does LAPG typically take to ship an order? View Quote I ordered Sunday morning and received L3 plates today Thursday. L3s fit nicely in a medium Slickster PC. Tight fitting the first time sliding them in due to width and easier in and out after the material stretched. Length is good. It would be difficult to get a much longer plate in there. |
