Basically, he's a one-man custom uniform shop out of Ukraine who sews Crye-style uniforms from unconventional camo patterns.  Quality is reportedly Crye-like, but so is the price (couple hundred dollars for each item).

@great308

Digging up an old post here, but is this the cable you mention, amplified for Baofeng's? $100 PTT from Disco

It seems to indicate that it is. Hope you're still around - spent about two hours looking for your post I knew I saw months ago

That’s not the one I got but that is where I would buy it. I did not get my ptt from disco32 but have gotten other things from them and disco stuff is top notch.

Plate carrier is a gen 2 Ferro Concepts slickster. Front placard is the low profile option from Spiritus Systems. Dangler is also Ferro. Used as a med kit.

Haley Strategic flatpack. Used to carry all the random things or an assault pack. Microbat candy micro as a boo boo pouch. Since been moved to under the front flap on the Spiritus Mk3. Basic loadout in it.

Belt, mag pouches are high threat concealment. BFG microTKN and banana hammock. Velocity dump pouch.

What i like about this is the modularity and scalability of it all. I can swap things around based on where I'm at or what I'm doing. Ferro is coming out with some more goodies that I'm debating getting to further expand on what I can do with the system.

It would be fun to do a “gear in use” pic thread.

But I don’t think I have pics of myself doing stuff in gear because I’m doing stuff and not taking pictures.

Bit of an update to my budget kit.

I had level 3 ar500 plates which were heavy. I just replaced them with level 3 polyethylene plates from botach. My eventual plan is to use these plates and pc for a lightweight rig to go with my scorpion to keep in my truck, and then get lvl 4 plates to go with my AR setup. I've so got a hydration pack coming on Monday.

On my belt I replaced the cheap Amazon belt with one from Vedder Holsters

Condor sentry pc
Condor triple rifle mag pouch
Battle steel level 3 polyethylene plates

Vedder Holsters belt
Wilder tactical belt pad
Gcode soft shell scorpion mag pouches pistol and rifle
Safariland 7ts
Sog seal pup elite and a Leatherman in the pouch
Random molle pouch for ifak

Attachment Attached File

I'm just your average Joe non mil, non Leo.  Most of this stuff sits next to my bed unless I go to the range or a class.

Beware keeping UHMWPE poly plates in hot vehicles during most of the year, the heat will damage the plates and make them less effective:
https://www.lightweightarmorsolutions.com/index.php/heat-warning-2/

Keep the AR500s in a minimalist rig as your SHTF truck gear, while using your UHMWPE as your go-to, load into V as you go rig.

A lot of us are civilians who prep, wish we could had been in the military, or just think gear is awesome.  Some of us can only afford to attend some classes a couple of times a year, and some of us actually get out and train alone or with others more often.

To be fair, you can watch any documentary of our wonderful service members kicking ass in Afghanistan and/or Iraq and a lot of the time their gear looks just like some guy who's had his laying around in a truck for a year.

It's like testing someone's intellect on a forum, asking them a difficult math problem, when all they have to do is google it, and respond back.  There are guys on here who've posted "clean gear" who I'm sure have used that same gear to train hard and probably keep it in the back of a squad car, or something of the like.  Then there are also guys on here who could have had one cool fighting rifle class in the mud, and posted the aftermath.

That said, seems slightly like a "I'm so cool" mentality to even give a shit about the condition of the gear, unless someone is claiming to have "just got back from the sandbox" like Cory what's his face from that dumb ass youtube channel that only got views because he visually hoed out his woman.  Not saying that's your state of mind but it gets old seeing posts where cool guys just HAVE to advertise their "bad assery" with such gestures.  I'm almost certain there's at least one or two SOF members who've posted pics of mint gear and I'm not gonna be the doofus who assumes they don't, or haven't used it.

It's a gear pic thread gentlemen.  I too think it'd be cool to see a thread where worn out gear is posted with awesome stories behind it's wear and tare, but fact is, most gear with that kind of use is probably owned by some agency or has been replaced before the person who used it THAT hard (who's probably too busy to give a damn about posting photos of it on a forum), and therefore will likely be a rarity.

Anyway...  I'm just some civilian dick head behind a keyboard.  What do I know...

God bless our men and women, in uniform.  Clean, or otherwise.

Its not about being dirty, anyone can clean their gear.  But their is one thing about tactical nylon that is pretty much a constant, it wears down after use.  The edges get rough, it loses its sheen, it may start to fray.  Kydex gets scratched. I can tell pretty easily if gear has been used or not and cleanliness has nothing to do with it.

The biggest catalyst for that statement (and ive made it myself before) isnt about showing off.  Its the opposite of that. Dont buy gear to take pics on here and instagram, buy it to use it.  If your goal is prepping, then you still need to put it through its paces, as when your life depends on it is the absolute last time I would want to be doing a gear shakeout and figuring out what works and what doesnt.  Go to the range and shoot in the prone with it.  Put it on and get some miles down while wearing it.  Put a pack on over it.  Get in a vehicle wearing it. If your goal is cola warrior you may want to find out if you have too much bulk on it to run an obstacle course.  There are a lot of things that look really cool but are functionally terrible for people and the only way you know them is by doing them.

It will do you no good if the first time you put it on is when SHTF, and you strain a trap because its loaded unevenly, or your lower back goes out because you werent used to the weight. It would be super awesome to find out you cant holster your pistol on your belt with your vest set up the way it is, your rifle catches on a single pouch every time you move, or if every time you bend over you lose half your shit.

I agree with all of that cause it’s true.  My point is, the average civi who takes a class or two a year, goes out and trains with with his buddies twice a month, and goes to the range to lay in prone and shoot twice a week will not show much if any signs of use on their gear in that year of use.  Especially in desert climates, given they weren’t in the mud.

On top of that, the average service member or LEO who uses gear for work will probably set his PC up similar to what works well for him at work and therefore may rarely ever touch their personal PC, whether or not they keep their work kit with them off the clock.

Testing one’s gear is a MUST and I feel sorry for the guy who never touched their setup and needs it, only for them to find out their stance with their rifle raised is so different that their whole posture and cheek weld is off, leading to slow and poor shooting in a life/death scenario.  I’m sure there are guys who post pics of their shit and never touch it again but does it really matter who that person is and who the ones are that may have beat up gear, but just bought that one that day and took a quick pic.  I mean there are just too many hypothetic scenarios and variables for that to really be a necessary or even helpful thing to be brought up on a pic thread.

You get what I’m saying?  I mean who cares.  There are pictures of some fat ass guys with their PCs on and you know they can barely breath in that shit let alone run in it but who’s going to tell him it’s “too clean and so he must not use it” and why?  So to me, those posts just read “hey everyone I just want to let you know I use my gear”.

Like I said, anyone can drag their shit through the mud (personally mine is dirtier from working out in it than shooting with it) and post it up, which is the biggest reason why I think it’s a dumb thing to bring up.  Nobody knows shit about the other person’s life, generally, and so everyone is gonna say they use their gear.

Side note.  Since I’m a civilian and don’t really have the money to take as many classes as I’d like, and don’t often use my gear to even close to it’s full potential when I’m shooting, I’ve found out it’s weaknesses by wearing it during P90X workouts, including my rifle and pistol/belt, shouldering and drawing and all of that pretend I’m a soldier shit.  I gotta say, I’ll be damned if that didn’t get me to know my set up very well.

Anyway, sorry everyone if I’ve derailed the thread.  I’ll shut the fuck up with my unsolicited opinions now.

God bless

Speaking of cleaning gear, anyone got a formula for getting Ozark clay out of the fibers of a TT mav and pouches?  My strategy of simply wearing it out has been ineffective.

Scrub brush and simple green, it'll come out clean.  Or take it to a laundromat with the bigger industrial style washer, and simple green/oxy clean.

Thanks guys, I never thought about using a pressure washer.

I just let it dry and hit it with a brush to knock off as much as I could.

My current helmet/Lid collection, I even grabbed myself a bump helmet for good measure. I still need a few more though
So far I have a black and a green ACH, a black and a green PASGT and a black and a green high cut. The one with vent holes is obviously the bump helmet. I wouldn't mind picking up a few more to experiment with different color helmet covers.
