Does anybody use different color pouches on their rigs on purpose in an attempt to break-up a solid color.  I'm trying to convince myself that I need to retire my Eagle Tac vest and go MOLLE.  I already have some of the pouches I would use but am thinking I might leave it with some OD and some coyote rather than spend the money on new pouches just so they all match...or do I just sound like a woman?

Thanks

I use a mix of DCU pattern, OD green, coyote and SO Tech coyote all the time.

I usually stick with all black, all OD, or all tan

I'm sticking with all black for simplicity, or whatever color if I can get it for a good price.  My reasoning: if I have to put the LBE/Vest/Chest rig on for real, the S has already HTF long ago, and no one is going to care what color it is.

I ended up with a mixture of OD, tri color desert and coyote brown.  It may not get first prize at a fashion contest, but the gear is quality and it works.  Contrast is what breaks up shapes so I would not worry too much about matching anything.

I like mixing it up... I am putting together a RACK set up, the Rack will proabably be OD with OD / Desert / Multicam pouches mixed in....

Personally I think it looks better than all 1 color

I use whatever color gear I can get a good deal on and then lightly dust the finished rig with paint to tie it all together a little.

Personal Preference, some people like all one color , some like to break it up

Unless you buy all your gear from a single manufacturer you would end up with different colors anyway. There are probably 3-4 different shades of OD and about a dozen different "Coyote Brown" colors out there.

Heck last trip to Iraq I had a DCU desert pattern IBA vest with Green LC-2, Woodland, Coyote, and ACU pouches on it over my ACUs.

And yes, lack of conformity made my ass look fat...

When I was ordering my shit from Diamondback Tactical  to go to Afghanistan I was in a hurry so I said "send whatever color you got."  It's nothing a can of tan spray paint didn't fix when I got into country.

My personal gear will end up being mostly the leftovers, or replaced items from my military stuff, plus whatever I can get on sale, or used cheaoly. So it will have some mix and match.  OD and woodland most likely.
My duty stuff will be mostly OD and woodland until the ACU pattern gets issued to use, but I've got a couple pouches already, and will probably get everything in it eventually.  Assuming my chain of command doesn't throw a fit about it.  It's a good way for me to recycle and build up my own stuff for fun, and range time.

Go for form and function, the matching part will come after you figure out what works and what doesn't. The active forces are still making the switch to the ACU, many soldiers still have DCUs, woodland OTVs, and whatever color the Exchange had for the rest.
