Today I was in a local gun shop and saw some police trade in  concealable body armor for $39.99. They were various brands of IIA vests, all manufactured in 1999 and 2000. Any reason not to pick up a couple at this price?

Yeah. Check out who made them, and then do some research.

BEWARE OF ZYLON VESTS MADE BY "SECOND CHANCE"!! THEY DO NOT WORK.

Also, ask why they are only $40. They SHOULD go for about $150-$250 depending on age and manufacturer.

Beware of vests made by ANYONE that are not made of Kevlar.

They are kevlar. Some of the vests were made by P.A.C.A. and some were Saber-tek.
