I need a favor. I broke the gun down for cleaning and lube. Left it on the work table. One of the douches I work with thought it’d be funny to “dump” the 870 parts drawer on my work area. So shen I came back there were dozens of 870 parts mixed in with my OHG 870 parts. I got them all squared away except for the bolt carrier. I had looked over all the other parts but not the carrier. Can anyone tell by appearance which one came from the OHG gun? https://www.AR15.Com/media/mediaFiles/1783/8AC7DBBC-13EB-43C3-994D-5C064A6A5282-715627.jpg View Quote |

Received 2 folders and 1 fixed 10-24.
Folder #1 SN S639XXXV Barrel Code D W Appears unfired, factory grease apparent on bolt, carrier, receiver and barrel extension. Bolt face shows no evidence of being fired Bore immaculate, no evidence of firing, factory hone marks still clearly visible. Minor ding at muzzle, Screwheads on bayonet adapter show use of incorrect screwdriver but not horribly mangled. Minor finish wear on muzzle end of bayonet mount. No notable scratches, wear or other indicators of use to receiver, both sling swivels present. Overfolder is perfect, grip shows no evidence of uses, smooth areas still show as molded shine, checkering perfect with no damage. Action is smooth as silk, locks up tight. Folder #2 SN S634XXXV Barrel Code D W Shows some internal evidence of being fired but not too much, minor primer marks on breechface of bolt, bolt carrier shows travel path of bolt but no wear, locking recess on barrel extension shows bolt travel, some deposition in barrel but bore bright. Action bars show evidence of cycling. Finish is 95%+, no wear or scratches evident on receiver. Forearm has a couple of very minor scrapes but otherwise perfect. Both sling swivels present. Overfolder is perfect, grip shows no evidence of uses, smooth areas still show as molded shine, checkering perfect with no damage. White label with "26" on rear top of receiver. Fixed SN S377XXXV Barrel Code DW The party that ordered this one won the lottery. Shotgun is unfired, substantial evidence of factory grease in action. No marking of bolt face, bore looks new with factory hone marks clearly visible* Very light evidence of cycling on action bars. Finish shows as new with zero scratches & wear marks. Forearm is perfect, 2 minor dings on buttstock with "49" Sharpied on comb of buttstock at heel. Smooth action. *Bore had factory grease residue as did the barrel under the bayonet mount. All were completely disassembled, cleaned in ultrasonic tank and scrubbed with a 1" paintbrush with ATF on it. All showed a light rust brown tinge to the ATF, unknown if this was just minor accumulated rust on surfaces or sluffing off of blueing residue. The fixed stock is the queen of the bunch, as stated it would easily pass for NIB. Folder #2 had the best finish but also showed the most evidence of having been fired. Folder #1 while clearly unfired showed the most handling wear. None had any notable rust spots or wear. Incredibly nice shotguns, especially considering what you DIDN'T pay for. Sincerest thanks to the OP for the heads up on these, great way to get a hold of a truly collectible piece. |

My folder came in today. Mixture of good and bad news
Good news is that it looks unfired, no scratches in wood or metal other than the mag extension nut. Serial number is S635711V barrel code RDWK The bad news is the magazine extension barrel nut was scarred up by what appears to be lock wrench marks, and the magazine follower was missing. The magazine spring was stuck in the receiver. I ended up buying a rather expensive metal military follower off of ebay to fix the problem. Still a hell of a deal for the price. Sorry for the crappy photos, but the camera is dying. Attached File Attached File Attached File |

Folder received 10/25/18
Serial # S639084V Barrel Keyhole mark D W Q the "Q" is larger than the D W Came with state property card marked 8ST19A101750 on the back, Inspected Dec 20th 2011 Attached File Appears to have been fired very little Attached File Attached File Attached File |

So, I tried to load this thing up, and it wouldn't take more than 4 shells, it felt as though it was binding up. I get it apart and find this.

Just field stripped my fixed stock and cleaned it up. The barrel was not drilled for a bead. Removing the bayo adapter revealed a coat of cosmoline underneath it. The bore was perfect and shiny, and there was minimal crud in the action. Mine was probably fired only a few times.

Damn, one of the GunBroker models is sequential sn# to the one I got. Damn. Damn. Damn :-(
Once in a lifetime to have a sequential pair Ugh. Oh well, at least I'm not a collector. I'm happy for the one I have. Still, knowing there's two that could be paired..just seems like it should be. Probably many sequentials in this collection, I'll let someone with more resources make that happen. |

Picked up my 2 fixed and am very happy. One is 90-95% with some small handling/rack marks and the other is very well used but honest wear with a lot of character and patina. No bubba'd screws or extenstion nut. Last night I broke down the well used one and cleaned it inside and out. There was some rusting inside the receiver and shell tube but that cleaned up easily with some 0000 steel wool and Remington Oil. The gun just had years of honest wear on it but I suspect whoever was issued this gun did their best to keep it up. Only a full breakdown showed some rust and grit on the internals. It has the been there, done that look and cycles like butter now. I was going to keep them both but my 78 year old father saw them and his eyes lit up. He offered to buy one for double what I paid. I told him to keep his money and choose whichever one he wants. I haven't seen him get excited about a gun in years. That alone is worth its weight in gold. I will update with the barrel info later but for now, here is the serial info.

cross posted from the original thread
I got a chance to clean mine up at work today. I received two fixed, SN S377845V (CU) and S394493V (KU). SN S377845, marked 5 at base of stock in black sharpie, had no sight hole drilled in the barrel, a plastic follower and the barrel is MOD SN S394493V, marked 69 at base of stock in black sharpie, does have a hole drilled in the barrel, a metal follower and the barrel is CYL. I soaked them both in CLP for a day then Blaster for another day. It still took some heat from a heat gun to get the mag tube nuts off. I used thick leather and some channel locks. They were still tight as hell. Attached File Attached File Attached File Attached File Attached File |

Got 3. All came with black nylon slings.
Folder: Serial Number: S636461V Barrel Code: D W K Like new. Perfect. Fixed #1: Serial Number: S379175V Barrel Code: C U Rack Number: 69 Fixed #2: Serial Number: S381900V Barrel Code: C U Rack Number: 56 Got the fixed stocks apart and cleaned up today. Both had a little handling wear but nothing major. No damage from Private Snuffy taking a wrong tool to them. Neither appeared to have been fired. Looked like factory oil inside and some heavy oil / cosmoline under the bayo adapter. Very clean internally with no wear. Both barrels are drilled for front sights. |
