saw them at sprawl mart for 198 up here so that would be about 150 in south of canada dollars...

Most Walmarts have stopped selling the Security 88, because it is considered a 'riot' shotgun, or some such PC crap.
You can get the long-barreled field version, but not the shorty. TTIUWP, so...

Most would consider any 870 version to be superior to any 500 or 88 version. That said, price is the key. As long as the Mossy is significantly cheaper, few would complain about the Mossy's quality. |

Neither should crap the bed on you, but the 870 feels to be better made, IMO. It's also much easier to increase capacity on the 870, and there are a ton of accessories available for the 870 too. If the user just plans on buying it and leaving it in the closet with price being the primary purchase driver, it's tough to beat an 88. |
