Yes, receiver purchased from JD at AI&P.
For me it's not difficult to line up at all.  The Magpul stock puts my line of sight right along the top of the receiver which has a machined "channel" along the top (not sure what else to call it).  My eye picks up that channel which centers rear of receiver to the front sight.  You get used to adjusting where you place the front sight on target as it then tends to shoot a bit low.  I have another 870 with almost exact same configuration.  A couple of range sessions and I was putting the loads right on target.

Started out as a TAC14.

Now has a 12.5" barrel and Hogue 12" stock.

After getting the question about the lack of a rear sight it got me to thinking about correcting that even though, as I noted, I don't find aiming the gun difficult to do without the site.  I had a little time available today so I mounted this LPA sight.  I haven't shot with it yet, but it does make picking up the front sight very easy.

Works well with a pistol grip for press checks, changing ammo, etc.

It does have a lot of sharp edges that need to smoothed out with a file.   It also needed  some minor fitting to work in my 590a1 aluminum trigger housing. Installation and fitting took me about 3 hrs. I still need to file a few sharp edges.

Midwest distributors

They have the 590 with ghost rings in stock for $225 right now but no Surefires thrown in.

Keep an eye on Summit Gunbroker  for 870 Wingmasters for cheap.

How you like that Aimpoint Micro Sync mount? ^^ I'm really liking my RMR Sync mount, although I might get a tiny 1/16" riser plate for the RMR to bring it up a tad and swap out the factory D2 rear ghost ring for a simpler D4 ghost ring to unclutter my cowitness view.

My M2 Entry just got approved yesterday after nearly 7 months of waiting. I had the shorter stock and Sync/RMR waiting at home to go on it. All it needs now is just a light and a sling and I'll be good to go. I'm thinking this is going to be the new primary Home Defense gun.

I have the D4. I do not like the clutter of the "ears". Loving the SYNC and H2. My rear sight is much lower than yours, in part because the H2 and T2 series will cause a "shift" when you view irons through them. They shift down and to the right, by about 4moa, and it's...a few clicks...to get 4moa out of the Benelli. I zero for 50 yards with reduced recoil slugs. I am BARELY able to co-witness the irons through like the bottom 1/4 or 1/5 of the window, lol. Overall, I love it, though, and the C-stock on the 12.5" LOP setting puts my dot in the upper 1/3 of the window at my "natural hold", which works fine. Gets around the pesky 14.whatever LOP on the regular stock.

Yeah, I found this factory SBS for about $1k (which seemed like a pretty good price for a new ghost-ring Entry model) and then picked up the RMR/Sync combo for like $400 during an Amazon promotion.  I couldn't pass up on the build at that point.  Granted, it's not an M4 so I'll only make it almost all the way through the end of the world... but then again it's also about 2# lighter, so I won't die as tired either

I hear you on the regular Benelli stocks.  I think there's a "youth" 13.25 inch Comfortech, but even that's still a tad long for this gun's purpose and it costs $400 to boot.  Mesa sells a $140 12.5" stock but I thought I could make the same product myself for basically free. So while I waiting on the paperwork, I went ahead and chopped the original stock down to 12" LOP.  Here's the photo album of the stock modification I performed:

https://imgur.com/a/E215mzm

Fusion Firearms sells stand-alone D4 Ghost Ring inserts for like $20. I think I'll order one of those if I don't end up machining the ears off my D2 myself.

Just order the D4. It's the better option.

I went with the M4 because I know and understand the platform very well. It also eats pretty much anything from low-recoil 8 pellet FC to 3" slugs just fine, and I don't worry about how I hold it (push-pull can jam an ID gun), or the weight of the light and optic (although minimal, it DOES reduce ID gun functionality, maybe making that fatal difference in running some loads, and not). Mainly, familiarity. I have tons of spare M4 stuff, and understand what makes them tick.

Wow. Got that D4 ghost ring installed and it's a huge difference. I'm getting like a lower 1/3 cowitness but the ring blocks almost NONE of the RMR window. No... really... It's a fantastic night and day difference. I'll have to post pics later tonight, but it's so awesome that Scalarworks really ought to be offering D4 ghost rear apertures as an optional upgrade when you buy a sync mount.

I also threw a SF G2X Pro light in a CDM MOD-C mount on it. Can't have an HD gun without a light. Weight of optic, light and mounts will not be a cycling problem as the weight is still almost identical or lighter than other full size Benelli ID guns. Actual weight as pictured and loaded with 9-Pellet Federal 00B:
7.02 LBS Unloaded
7.69 LBS Loaded (7 shells)

Here’s a comparison of the red dot view with the D2 vs D4 ghost ring. A lot less obstructed view. Also I’m finding the MOD-C light mount great. It couldn’t tuck the light in any tighter without having to shave material off the handsguard or the light body. I think it’s as close and low profile as a 1” light can get on this gun.

I've had a couple SBS projects in the works for awhile. I finally got this one done. 870 Special Field with 10.5" barrel. I have a local gunsmith that did the barrel chop. He did a proper cut/machine on the rib and re-blued the machined surfaces. To top it off he threaded for chokes. I shortened the buttstock a little bit. I haven't shot it since the transformation, but it was a smooth shotgun in its original form.

Pair of factory Remington’s.

14” SBS on top.  Just a Wilson +1 added.  AOW MCS Breacher on the bottom.  Put a Shockwave on because to me it’s more comfortable than the Knoxx it came with.

Efile SBS 870.

12.5” cut down rifle sight barrel done by Rose Action.  Also had them thread it for chokes.  Youth stock and a Salvo.  I’ve got an 8” rod kit I need to try.  In the factory 12” config it’s comfortable to shoot Subsonic’s without plugs.

Two very different approaches. Top is a CZ Hammer Classic I form 1'd. Rose Action Sports did the barrel work. I always wanted an external hammer "cowboy shotgun" and this one was too beautiful to pass up.

The other is a factory M4 Entry. It came with a Surefire M80 cheese grater that I sold and swapped for a FFT standard forend. I have an RMR waiting for it. It's still in jail so unfortunately I have no better pics from my last "conjugal visit."

Good Looking Sticks, CQ.

If you're going with an RMR on the M4, ditch the rail and get the Scalarworks RMR Mount. Also swap the rear LPA ring out for a D4 ring (the one without the dots) if it doesn't already have it. The rear ring with the dots obstructed too much of the RMR on my M2+RMR combo and swapping it the D4 was great.

Hey man! Haven't seen you in forever.

Good call on the Scalarworks mount, that is sexy, will pick one up. As far as the D4 ring, did you get yours from LPA? I think they make the OEM Benelli sights, but I can't find anywhere that has a Benelli-labeled D4 ring aperture for sale. I found a place that has the LPA ones for $20.
