IIRC, it's a 500 that has been kitted out with some aftermarket gizmo.

There was a Mossberg Bullpup shotgun, which was a Model 500 in a Bullpup stock.
It was made from 1986 to 1990, then made for a while under the Maverick trade name.
It had an 18 1/2" 6-shot barrel or 20" 9-shot barrel.

There was also a version that was based on the Mossberg 590 shotgun that has a 20" barrel and a 9 shot magazine.

Here's a link to a picture of one up for sale:

I didn't realize those were factory. I figured there was a kit made by the same people who make the 10/22 and Mini-14 kits.

Learn something new everyday.

That gun makes airsoft look like a quality firearm!

I bought one way back when I was around 20 years old or so. I soon realized what I had blown my hard-earned money on, and quickly parted ways with it.

Oh yah, I still have one. Mine is a 590 with the 18.5 barrel. Here in Michigan, I had to register it as a pistol. The cops used to call me once in a while because their computer would spit it out as a shotgun. Well Duh.

The only thing it's really good for is holding the grip saftey, holding the trigger and racking off some high speed shots from the hip at paper badguys.

I guess it's pretty much useless but I've had some fun with it over the years.

Hollywood picked up on their futuristic look. They were often seen on Miami Vice episodes, probably because they looked new wave. The Boz also had one in the outlaw biker movie Stone Cold.

Didn't CaCrusin say Knoxx was coming out their own bullpup aftermarket stock about this time last year for release some time this year? I am sure if they still intend on bringing it to market I am sure it will be a whole lot less fugly than the Mossberg.

Y'know...call me crazy....(I've been called it and worse)....but if you removed that butt-ugly carry handle, and put a rail for a red dot type sight....it would look alot better. Maybe clean up the lines a little, round out some of the squareness.

not sure of the OAL the Bull pup design would make it, but as long as it's IIRC 26 in OAL, then it should be fine...Pending the barrel is atleast 18 inches.

You are correct. The Mossberg bullpup is 18" barrel. And it's OAL is just fine. If OAL was a issue you could not put a pistol grip on a Mossberg. Or folding stock.

My friend as a Mossberg bullpup. He bought it for $350. It is fun to shoot, but the carry handle sights and grip safety suck.

I saw the prototypes at the Shot Show before Mossberg introduced those, instead. The prototypes were awesome looking and had a mean muzzle brake. Huge difference in looks between the prototypes and the production guns.

They're great for the Hollywood prop rooms, but suck to actually use in a social situation. IMO, save your heard-earned money on ANY "bullpup" that doesn't say Barrett, Steyr or FN on it.
