I wanted to show everyone the new Mag Clamp I made for my Benelli M1. I designed it in Pro-E (it is a 3D Modeling Software). It has a Mil-Std Picatinny Rail on it (both sides) so that I can mount my Sure Fire light on it. It was machined so that it clamps to the mag tube, but has a slight clearance on the barrel, so that slug impact doesn't change. I plan on finishing it with Brownell's Moly Resin finish in flat black.

I'd buy one if you make a mount for a Remington 870 with 2 shot extension for the same flashlight!

Very nice!

I am trying to figure out how much it will cost if I get some volume. I don't think anyone would pay $80.00 for one, but maybe in the $55.00 range.

I would need a few dims off of your 870 to get a 3D model made.

Will it fit the M4 Benelli..?

So do you have to unscrew it to remove the barrel from the receiver? Kind of complicates field stripping doesn't it?

+1 on the 870, although I run the 8 hot extension on mine.

I am not sure, you would have to send me some dimensions so that I could compare it to the M1.

I don't have the dimensions to give you, but I'm sure someone else can help out. Are the remington and wilson extensions the same diameter?

Can they be anodized black?

Some body would have to confirm the diameters, but I would guess they are really close.

As for the finish - I am doing mine with Brownell's Moly Resin Finish. Anodizing is pretty pricey unless you have lots of pieces to do. That might be an option in the future.

Your pictures aren't working. If you made of these for an 870 I'd buy it (for a reasonable price).

If you made it for an 870 with a bayonet lug you would sell them non stop!

I'd like to see the pics...your pics are no longer on there, or the link isn't working anymore!!

Pics back up!

Can you post a pic of the 870 with the lug? I can see what I can do.

If that's aluminum it'll need to be anodized to make is harder (less wear/corrosion).

+1 rem870 with a bayonet lug
Link Posted: 2/23/2006 8:41:27 PM EDT
How well does it stay in place under sustained fire?

Looks like a functionally simple design. I am interested in one. Anodizing not necssary for me. Are you using alloy 7075 or 6061?

Any chance I could get a copy of that CAD file?

So how about making one for the 870!! plz?

Send me the blank check and I will e-mail you the file.

Only hard anodizing will actually make a difference, and it isn't cheap. Most everything that is anodized is not hard annodized - it just gets a cosmetic anodizing process.

I am going to use Brownell's Moly Coat.

I have a Benalli Nova Tacticla with the mag tube extension. If you start making them using hard anodizing I want one.

What kind of tolerancing did you do for it? Obviously the more tolerances you use the more it is going to cost to build.

Unfortunately I am not able to post pics. On factory 870 extensions there is a portion on the end that will facilitate the ring of the bayonette but no lug. A bayonette lug like the lug on an AR welded on the clamp or machined on would do the trick. Sory I can't be more descriptive.

Just make the same thing rail for an 870. I'm sure we could get a group buy going to cover the cost :)

I used the Mil-Spec for the the rail. I figured that at least every accessory would fit if I did that. The cost really comes from having to remove so much material from the blocks. If I could get the profile extruded there would be a lot less machining. Of course getting that set up would be several thousand $$$$$.
