i think i want to SBS a pump shotgun.
870, 1200. 590.
what i am looking for is the shortest tube so i can make the shortest OAL without sending it in for custom work or dinking with the shell tube...
am i stuck with a three round gun and 12" of barrel?
is there something shorter i can lop the barrel off?

Understand the question as making a SBS via Form 1 without custom work, ie. Off the shelf parts?

Remington 870 14"

Anything shorter will require custom work,.. Mossberg 590 SBS's use different(shorter) slide assy's which O.F.Mossberg in their wisdom will not sell SBS parts to civies. Shortest Noncustom Mossberg will be around 15" based on a chopped down 18" 590.

yes. a legal form 1 gun. but the "speed pump" type design maybe worth the one inch.

Your not asking for my advice but I feel its worth adding:

I'll assume because your asking about the 870,500/590 and 1300 that you do not own the "Donor" shotgun as of yet.

Factory SBS's cost the same as factory 18" shotguns, Form 1 and Form 4 taxes are the same.... Buy a Factory SBS and save yourself some money. timeframe is close to the same, as the Factory SBS only adds transfer time to your dealer, which is very fast nowadays
