i believe it was the Express Synthetic model. all black, bead front sight only, 5-rnd mag tube, straight stock. what do you think?

I'm going to guess that it has the 28" barrel. Now I'm kind of torn. The 1300 is a "home defense" or police model then with it's 8 round tube?

The 870 has much more accessories and there are many more of them out there.

If you are hell bent on getting one of those, I guess I'd recommend the 1300. Normally I would give a nod to the 870 because 870 Expresses will go on sale for $199. I would wait for the sale if I was you.

Could be the 870 Home Defense Express, which comes with the 18" barrel and 4 shot tube.

We sell them for $259.00 over the counter so $245.00 is a great deal.

I'd definitely go for the Remington over the 1300.

yeah yeah, it was the home defense express model with 18" barrel. the winchester was cool because it had a full mag tube and a flourescent fiber-optic front site. but you can't put a side saddle on it. i THINK you can put a side saddle on the 870, at least that's what the sales guy said, but i'm not positive. i really liked the feel of the 870 better, narrower grip and more ergonomic forend, but i'd have to pay extra for a side saddle and mag extension tube. and the 870 doesn't have much in the way of a site. just that brass bead on the front. so i'm still undecided.

Yes, you can put a sidesaddle on the Winchester 1300, I have one on mine. Just look for one for the 1200.

Go with the 870. They tend to be better made and have smoother actions. The accesories are out there for the 870 so you can jazz it up. Don't get me wrong I have a 1300 as my bird gun, I won it from Ducks Unlimited. But all my other shotguns, every single one of them, are 870s. Get the 870, you'll be better off for it. Plus the 870 has that classic "Get the fuck out of my house before you get some OOOBK in the chest" shotgun sound that will make any evil-doer think twice about sticking around.

870, nuff said. Nothing on the HD model that can't be fixed.

thanks guys. 870 it is. just paid for it. the store owner is going to add the 2-rnd mag extension tube (factory remington), side saddle, and trim down the foregrip to accomodate the saddle and keep the loading breech clear. should be ready in a week. now all i need is a scattergun technologies hi-vis follower.

I just built this gun this week and it started out as a bone stock Remington 870 Home Defense. Accessories for these guns are abundant.
