Who have you guys been using for refinishing? I was kind of looking for one place to ship the frame, slide, and stainless parts all together instead of sending parts two different places.

Here’s my MEUSOCish build from a several years ago
Attachment Attached File

1st Gen PSA 1911 frame, Wilson Parts, Springfield blank slide. It’s got an Ambi safety on it now.
I just got a M45A1 but don’t have it in hand yet. It’ll go nicely with my MC Operator too.

Video of test fire, I’m not sure if you can embed IG videos (at least I don’t know how to do it).

What holsters are you guys using with your meusocs? I have a soc rig that I’ll use for range/OC, but want a really nice leather belt holster for everyday carry. Something that does the gun justice. I’m thinking of a milt sparks but wanted to check what you guys liked. I don’t normally carry a 1911 ever but I will when mine is finished.

I am unaware of a issued holster for a MEUSOC 45 to Marines in fleet units other than thigh holsters. However, Milt Sparks Summer Specials were used at the High Risk Personnel (HRP) Course at Quantico and some of those 1911 holsters made their way back to individuals at Force when the course began using M9’s.

I’m now wondering if I would rather make a variant 3, with the Springfield slide that has front and rear narrow serrations, but with the old sights, Clark’s, Kings, etc.

What slide is that? I’ve been perusing gunbroker and haven’t seen any Springfield slide that has front and rear narrow serrations. Were the serrations factory or put on at PWS?

ETA: the only slides I’ve found with that arrangement are stainless slides.

PWS milled those narrow serrations on themselves. There's even pics of a few of the Pros the Marine Corps bought that had the front serrations milled on over the Custom Shop logo.

Gotcha, I’ve seen the pics with the SACS logo and FCS cut over it

I’m not aware of a factory model like that but I’m currently looking. Seems the older guns had the narrow serrations on the rear but I haven’t seen any with them on the front.

ETA: coating a stainless slide or park’d would be kinda dope

If you're going to go down that route (milling front serrations) get a slide with the Springfield logo forward of the ejection port.
Link Posted: 1/30/2020 7:39:15 AM EDT

Yes that would be the plan, haven’t seen any photos of the old slide with FCS.

I don't remember what, if any, concealable holsters the DA platoon guys were issued during workups once we chopped to the MEU. We (the R&S element) were issued G-code concealable holsters for our M9s, so it's possible the DA platoon were issued something similar. This was 26th MEU(SOC) circa 2002-2003.

Also around 2003-2004, a buddy of mine at 2nd Force was looking for a concealable leather holster for his MEU(SOC) right before a deployment, and I gave him my Galco Combat Master.

Well, he realized that he had installed a non-wide Ed brown safety, and had found a wide one in his parts stash so he stamped that one and fitted it.

Other than that, waiting for the go ahead from his finisher to send it down

No shit? My BIL is a Link. After my discharge i mentored him before he enlisted. He became an 03 as well. He was then shot in the head in Fallujah. Same city, years after we left. He survived.
