I need to "remove the shooter" from the equation with my SA Champion to see if it's the rear sight that's off or the shooter holding the gun.  What's the proper way to bench fire a pistol so that it's as steady as possible?

Also, since the rear sight has a set screw that I can loosen, but still can't move the sight by hand, what's a good tool to use to tap the site without marring it if I do end up needing to adjust it?

Thanks!

I use a rest that only hits the dust cover.

Brass drift works well and a pencil mark to tell when you moved it.
