Archived [ARCHIVED THREAD] - what parts will fit/work in a SA 1911?

Got a GI champion on the way, was told on another forum Springfields take springfield parts, and a lot of aftermarket parts won't work.  How true is this?  And what parts can I look for, if I have this GI champion model (lightweight)?

Looking to possibly replace:

sights
hammer
grip safety
trigger.
