A friend is willing to part with his ithaca 1911 a1. is there anything specific I should look for other than normal wear and tear or should I just shell out the 600 and be happy?

Ithica 1911 can be worth a pretty penny. Do some research but off the top of my head if it's a WWII production it should naturally have some or to a certain degree a good amount of wear to the gun. 600 doesn't sound too bad.

This site will tell you everything you need to know about that Ithaca. If it's in good shape and not been buggered with, $600 is a steal.

Yeah, and if you get sick of it I'll give you 700

The USGI Forum on 1911forum.com is a good spot too
