For those that agree the SA GI-A1 is a good, cheap, starter 1911...

I read posts that says.. just shoot it.  when it starts to breaks down,  then you upgrad the ejector, springs, extractor..etc. etc.

My question is, at how many rounds have you come to that cross-road?
< 1,000
3,000
10,000??

I ask because I will be using my GI for CHC course at the end of Feb. I have put about 300 rds through it so far (with one jamming issued mysteriously resolved). I plan to shoot maybe up to 800 rd total by the time of the class.

I just don't want the gun to go down on me before or during the class.

Just replace the recoil spring every 3-5000 rounds and you should be good to go.
