Quoted: Thanks! So my SN is after they stopped numbering the slides and the barrel is the "7791193" replacement. There is zero wear visible inside the gun, the frame rails and bottom of the slide where the hammer rubs on it look like only a few rounds have been fired. The ridges where the barrel locks into the slide are razor sharp on the slide and barrel. I'm curious why it would have a replacement barrel if the gun otherwise looks like it was made yesterday? A mystery lost to time I guess? No matter, I'm pretty happy with it! View Quote Bear in mind at least through Korea almost all USGI 45 ammo was corrosive primed. A single magazine shot through the gun and not cleaned shortly thereafter ( not always possible in combat) could result in a badly rusted bore in short order. This is why so many GI guns had barrels replaced during the rebuild process |

I'm 21444 and haven't got a call yet. Hoping to hear next week!

As I posted above, I got "the" call last Thursday, the 13th, I am #21411.
I'm not expert but I think you should get a call this week based on your number. |

Finally found time to get out and shoot my CMP 1911. Fired close to 50 rounds without any problems. Felt great to shoot a pistol made in 1943. Hoping ammo starts coming down since I didn’t have anything that shot 45 ACP prior to getting this pistol.

I'm still trying to find some sources as to what kind of barrel I have.............has Colt .45 auto on top, but the lugs only have one marking on them, and it's a Z. I assume that its a replacement barrel, possibly Israeli, but I dont know much about them

Quoted: The woman at CMP I spoke with today was extremely nice and helpful. I asked for a Service Grade and then asked if I could request a specific manufacturer and/or matching slide and frame. I was told that they were not allowed to do so due to the havoc (my choice of word) that it had caused. According to her, people were angry that the pistols they recieved were not exactly what they had requested, they were rude and complaining and were even returning their pistols for refunds so she said that CMP was no longer allowing specific requests anymore. Oh well... I told her that I'd be happy with what I got. View Quote It's a shame that people have to mess it up for others......... |

Mine has a small "HS" on the right side of the locking lug, just above the pin hole, which would make me think High Standard.

Quoted: Just received my service grade. I doubt this gun was shot after its rebuild. Mix master. Colt frame (1945), Balimoy/DSE slide, unsure of the barrel (dated 1985), Checkmate mag. My RGN was 221XX.
After getting the call on the 1st and ordering a field grade, my FFL waiting until yesterday to send a copy of it, and CMP shipping it yesterday, I received it today. It may not be pretty but it's mine. The crown of the barrel is a little screwed up. This one definitely did not see an arsenal refit. It's a 100% pony gun. I can't wait until the CMP gets M9s someday, and someone gets my old one from Afghanistan with all the holster wear on it. I really want to know their comments. Plus now I never have to worry about scratching it. |

I think you have an original finished 1945 Colt. slide stop and hammer are period correct for 1945 Colt. 1. Can you take apart and check all the barrel markings? 2. Can you take a photo on the thumb safety checkering? 3. How many ribs on the mainspring housing? 4. Any markings on the magazine? Colt from that period should have blued contract magazine marked C-L, C-R, or C-S on the bottom of the floor base. |

My understanding is all 3 grades are left. They open a crate and grade them and offer them, then the next crate, grade them, and offer them. Head over the the CMP forums for more info
https://forums.thecmp.org/showthread.php?t=274428&page=51 They are working up on 23000 now…so I’ve only got 3500 to go…at least I’ll get a gun this round…my understanding is this round is 8000 guns EDIT; my use of the word “round” is a poor choice here, and my apologies. I think round 2 is close to 20,000 guns again/..but it’s 8000/year. As I said in my reply below, I’ve read so much stuff over on the CMP forums it’s all blending together, but I think that’s right |

I'm 318xx. It still pisses me off beyond words that they completely lied about the random number generator. I'm likely going to miss out on this round because of that blatant lie. Also, why TF don't they just pick up the next round where the numbers left off? Makes no sense. |

I think they will? I honestly don’t know. I’m also pissed about the random thing, but just got lucky.
I’ve read so much on the CMP forums I can’t remember where I saw that. But I don’t think round 2 is just 8000 guns…I think they’re just doing 8000/year. But at the rate they are going they will hit the 26000s (where I am) before fall….unless it has something to do with how they receive them I clarified above, my apologies |

Guys, I got one in late Round 1. Don't be afraid of the service grades. I was BLOWN AWAY by what showed up in the case I got.
Original finish Matching RR Proof marks on the slide Rack number on grips She had a replacement barrel, but I was so happy I got an original finish that it didn't matter at all to me! |

View Quote I genuinely don't care what grade or manufacturer I get. My prized possession was my Springfield 1911 Target that my wife gave me when I graduated. It was stolen by some contractors when we moved into our new house. I've wanted a 1911 ever since that one was stolen and this is really the first chance I've had to get one that I wanted. Will actually be a much better fit with my carbine, garands, and 1903a3 that I restored. |

I shot my service grade for the first time this past weekend and boy are those sights tiny and hard to see. Has anyone milled their slide for a red dot?

It is likely we'll be waiting through this entire year's delivery and into the next one before we're up. They will keep filling orders based on the current lottery until either the lottery numbers or 1911s run out. Probably have a year and a half before you get a call. Hopefully the 2022 delivery isn't compromised by the Democrats. |

Also, why TF don't they just pick up the next round where the numbers left off? Makes no sense. Completely lied/blatant lie? Got some proof other than just some anecdotal third hand information? On the CMP forum someone looked at all the self reported RGN's and dates of packets sent/received and determined that the two highest reported RGN's (33xxx and 35xxx) were both sent in mid-January. That right there kills the argument that numbers were assigned when packets were received, but glad to read more info if you have it? Round one went all the way up into the 19k range based on self reporting. Round two started at 20k. Is that really so much of a difference to not understand the process? CMP has 80k+ 1911's. Every year they ask to release more and more of them with each NDAA. In round one everyone who got a RGN, no matter how high got a gun unless they didn't want it, couldn't be reached, or were disqualified for another reason. Looks like they issued approximately 16k RGN's this time and at 8k guns issued/year it should take two years for this round to finish off. Having a RGN should be reassurance enough that you will get a gun unless you fit one of the previously mentioned categories? At the moment the service grades aren't being issued, most likely because they still have stacks of fields and racks available because 90% of the first 2k guns issued were service grades. If it goes like last time, once they clear out a bunch of the field and rack grades they'll open up some more crates and start offering all three grades again. You may just luck out and have the pick of the litter by the time your number pops. The only sure fire way to get what you want out of this when you want it is to go to the auction site. All the best guns picked go there, so there's always an option available with these things. Can't imagine we'll get to round four, five, six, etc before they just start selling them the way they did with the service rifles. Eventually you'll just be able to order them straight up w/o any of the lottery actions... |
|
Got the call yesterday.
Honestly I thought I missed this round because I never got a RGN. I searched my emails and spam folders often but never got it. The call came from an Atlanta area code. Service and Rack grade were available. It is supposed to ship today. |
