Hold one before you do. Loved mine as it was as reliable as my glocks.

Didn't like the 20 lpi on the front strap or "tactical" on the frame. For the money I'd look at the DW Valors

My next 1911 will be my 1st. Im know I want a DW Valor. Still deciding on the finish and full size vs commander vbob.

Any suggested places for best prices? Or is Gun Broker my best option?

Do a search on the one you are interested in on gundeals.com. It will give you multiple vendors and prices. Then compare to Gunbroker. Be aware that some vendors sell blems so clarify that up front especially if the price is really good.

Something that weighs less like my friends Kimber. He has a carry model of some sort, full grip, short barrel, aluminum frame. Weighs as much or less loaded than my full size steel 1911 unloaded.

That or another quality forged steel frame full size unit to convert to .460Rowland.

I got the Les Baer stinger 2 weeks ago and now I'm wanting a full size.  Can't decide on the Premier II, UTC, or Custom Carry.

Another DW, probably one of the compacts. Just got a 9mm blued Valor in, took it to a USPSA match out of the box to break it in. 0 malfunctions, 250 rounds. Headed to the range tomorrow to see how many rounds and how dirty I get let it get before malfunctions happen. Really impressed with my DWs and I'm hooked.

I’m looking at an STI Marauder, been desperately looking around the internet to try to convince myself that I don’t want to spend over two grand on a pistol, but every review I see of it is glowing.

It will most likely be the Colt Gunsite Pistol Government Model. It will be the big brother to this one I already have.

I love it!

I've been putting away money for my next 1911 for a little bit, but I'm still undecided on which one I want.  I'd say my current top three choices are:

1) Colt Combat Unit Rail Gun in .45
2) Les Baer UTC without FCS
3) Colt Wiley Clapp Government

Options 1 and 2 would be shooters and option 3 would eventually be sent off for a full custom job.

I am set for 1911s. I have 6 and all of my itches have been scratched. If I were to get another, it would be a CCO chambered in 9mm if such an animal exists. My only remaining lust guns are a Colt  hammerless in .380ACP (like the one pointed at lil Johnny's noggin' to my left) and an HKUSP45/45c

#3 would be a poor choice of a base gun for a custom as a good 'smith will want to do his own ejection port, sights, grip safety, and frontstrap work.

In this era, there is no point in using a rattle trap Colt as a base gun.  Start out with a frame and slide that doesn't need to be smashed together and welded up.

One of the best custom 1911's that look and run great are built by Bedell Customs in Lancaster NY. He builds 1911 & 2011 that look and run great. A lot of people use them for shooting USPSA and for Carry. Check out Bedells web site.

Since you asked.  Something with a 2011 frame and a long slide (6"). Maybe in 9mm since I already have mags for that.  But not ruling out .45 since I reload it . Have a SA long slide now in SS and .45. what a difference in accuracy at 50 yards that extra 1" made for me.

Been looking for a 1911 9mm suppressor host.

Kept looking at the Kimber TLE TFS in 9MM over the past 6 months but Kimber quality horror stories have kept me from pulling the trigger.  Although the price is easy on the wallet at >$1000.

Then the Dan Wesson Wraith was released and it currently has my wallet's attention but is a bit more at $1800ish.   The only thing that bugs me is the production wraith guns don't have the forward cocking serrations vs. the pre-production guns.   Makes me want to wait and see if a later gen comes back with the forward cocking serrations on the slide.

Top of my wants list;

Wiley Clapp Government. Got to handle a few & definitely want one.

I only have 2 Commander sized 1911’s and what to get full sized 1911 again.

I have the commander sized WC, and love it!

Or, second choice would be just a plain 1911A1 Government with upgrades to the sights.

Waiting to see what the CMP guns look like.  As far as "modern" 1911 I'm pretty well covered.  A Springer RO is my nice 1911.  A Ruger Commander is my carry 1911.  And a RIA that I converted to a GI clone in my range toy.

The Valor in 9mm is at the top of my list as well. I love my new Dan Wesson Guardian in 9mm. It is going to be one of my primary CCWs.

Then a Dan Wesson Eco will probably be next.

I probably will not buy another 1911. I have a Les Baer UTC, I am much more interested in shooting that one as much as possible. It is a great pistol. I have always wanted an older and all original 9mm Colt Combat Commander, but is not a priority for me at this time.

Just traded into a MC Operator. I should have it next week.

Already ordered a Harrison short trigger, a wilson bullet proof fbfp stop, extractor, and magazine release, Smith and Alexander's msh with lanyard loop, and a few other parts. I should have them by the time the gun gets here so I can inspect, clean, and install, for the first range trip.
