I'm not at the point where I am ready to buy, but it should be soon. It will be a gift for me.

Where is the best place to buy? One of the Cabelas here had some a while ago, but I don't remember the price or models, or even if they were new or used guns. And big box stores = 120% street prices at least.

When you guys are buying these, where are you getting them from in about how much would I look for for a new stainless gun?

I've read these are hands over feet above Springers, I was looking at operators and range officers as well. Even looked at Sig made 1911s.

Look on GunBroker and Buds. It's not like a walnut stock rifle where seeing in person can make a difference.

On Gunbroker, look at shipping cost and get out of state to save on taxes if you can. Other thing you have to look at is if there is an upcharge for using a credit card. Have you a local FFL lined up prices vary greatly there as well.

I no longer buy local on the majority of my guns and save large amounts on money buying online.

Buds has a Stainless Specialist on Gunbroker right now for $1,442 plus $25 shipping no credit card fee.

Are you LE or MIL? DW has a great program.

Looks like Buds has the best price otherwise.

Not LE, first responder. Does DW cover that as well?

I bought my first Dan Wesson a Silverback 10mm through Gunbroker. The gun was a Blemished model which knocked off almost $500. The Blemished models are brand new guns with a tiny cosmetic blemish. On mine it was a tiny nick about the size of a pin head. Warranty covers everything except cosmetic finish. The second Dan Wesson I purchased was a custom special order through Dan Wesson direct. I highly recommend Dan Wesson 1911 pistols. They are a little more expensive than Colts and Kimbers, but, they are worth it. I'd definitely get a Dan Wesson over any Springfield Armory.

It says first responder, MIL, and LE. I think Buds is a better price though.

There isn't a lot of markup from wholesale, so there isn't a huge price disparity from MSRP like with other brands.  That could be what he's referring to.

Davidson's has DW's - stock varies but worth checking out.  But as posted above, price doesn't vary too much on DW's - I've bought mine from local shop, Buds, one from Alaska even lol, plus a few used ones as well.
