Ok so I've never owned one but want one. I have an idea of what I want.

All black
Full size
.45 acp
Railed under
Front serrations on slide

I'm open on price. Not $3000 though. Not going to suppress it and not going to rmr or anything like that. I do like night sights though. What's out there?

Eta: if this was black I might buy it but gives you an idea of what I like. But it's also a Kimber sooo
Good example

any loyalty to MFR?....a budget of less then 3k covers alot of mfrs, and you could get a custom pistol from WC all the way down to an ATI 1911 with a rail for 400 bucks....so what do you really want to spend?

I just ordered a Rock Island 1911,  630 bucks delivered to my FFL,  I heard a lot of good things about these,  I have the cheaper version in 9MM,   1911,  this is the one I picked up

watched lots of YT vids on them,  most everyone likes them.

and I have no affiliation with the link,  just where I bought this one from.

No real favoritism towards one manufacturer over another. Who are some of the custom builders? Or am I too poor? I checked out nighthawks site. Yeahhhh don't want to spend that much. Maybe $1000-$2000.

SW1911TA

Sig 1911 Extreme

Les Baer Thunder Ranch

They have their haters but I have to be honest in saying I have nothing but good things to say about my Sig 1911s.

Omit your requirement for front serrations and I think the best buy out there above $1,500 is the Dan Wesson Specialist.

You should look at the Ruger SR1911 Talo edition. Has everything you want minus front cocking serrations.

Colt's CEO pushed for gun control measures in the 90s... rather unapologetically, so you can go ahead and scratch them off your list.  Ruger has supported magazine capacity restrictions and the 94 AWB, so they are gone.  In March of 2000 Smith and Wesson traded support for gun control measures in return for the federal gov dropping them from some ridiculous lawsuits, so thats another manufacturer you can tell to go fuck themselves.  Don't know if CZ/DW or Sig have ever backed gun control but both of their parent companies are not even in the US so ?...

In all three of those 'US' companies, the people responsible for those decisions are gone. In SA's case, they are the current owners.

IIRC it was the head of a trade organization to which they contribute.  It wasn't really SA.  Also the law was saying that if you transfer 9 or more guns per year you have to register as a dealer in Illinois .  Anyways, I'm not a fan of what happened and you can boycott them if you want but i don't care to see someone like SA go under.  Its a tough industry esp if you are in states like illinois, connecticut, ect.  I think they got the message.

As for the OP, i don't know shit about 1911s but I am in the market and the 3 I am looking at are the Colt CCU, Dan Wesson Specialist, and the Springfield TRP

Why does Springfield have to make exactly what I want?! Never had a Springfield in my life, they make what I want and now I can't support them. Anyone know the differences between the TRP and the new RO Elite?

This guy here has, to the tee, exactly what I want.

Springfield is one of the few companies to mass produce 1911's and have as many options and models as they do. Politics aside, they make great pistols.

The RO elite is fairly new so I don't know too much about it. The TRP will have a better fit and finish over the range officer series. TRP also comes with adjustable night sights, bull barrel, full length guide rod, magwell, front checkering, and different grips. I have no idea what the "gen 2 trigger" is about but the ROE seems like a nice gun.

I've had a couple SA 1911's and love my Loaded operator.

They have just recently added that to the lineup. (was a slight different configuration before the elite)
Better rear sight it appears.
Looks like it has a standard barrel  trp has bull
No front strap checkering or mag well on the elite.
It used to state before the website changes that the RO guns were built  on same line as trp

If you can live with an external extractor the street price of the S&W railed guns and the features make them the feature value winner IMO.

I'd take a specialist all day long with front serrations. Keep hearing good things about them.

I just like a little more aggressive look to my guns but not over the top stuff hence wanting the front cuts.

I purchased a competition ready 2011 Edge from them. Be aware it was 10 years ago, they are/were a very well respected company. Remember things change so do your home work and make sure they are still GTG.
Everything was smooth with purchase. It turned out to be bar none the finest pistol I've ever shot.

If I was buying a carry 1911 they would certainly be on my short list. Their competition ready 1911 are well respected also.

If you are thinking about shooting USPSA the 2011 is a legendary winner.

My SA loaded is the exact gun I wanted. It's been flawless except for 2 shitty mags that have been crushed.

That being said, if I wanted a rail this gun is what I'd get at this price.

I've never owned a gun I didn't need to change out a trigger, sights, grips, etc

Well thanks for all the help guys. I gave the green light for my LGS guy to get me a TRP. It's what I want at about what I wanted to spend.

A custom Dan Wesson the way I want it was about $2300 quoted from airracefan's referral (thanks btw). After FFL fee, shipping and tax I'd be at almost $2,550.

I have a feeling that if I really like this platform I'll jump in deep on the next one.

Recently got an ROO, made a few mods to it, similar to a TRO on the outside. It shoots awesome!
