I have a blued CD that I'd like to put a ambidextrous safety on it.

Is there anything different about the CD 1911s that require a specific safety?

Can anyone with experience with a CD 1911 make any ambi safety recommendations?

I'm currently looking on Brownells at an Ed Brown Ambidextrous Machined Tactical safety.

Suggestions are appreciated. Thx.

As far as I know, the CD 1911s are just your run-of-the mill 1911, made in Turkey.

I installed a Kimber ambi safety on an RIA 1911A1; it is a fairly complex operation and I advise reading up on the 1911 action, then watching several videos, before attempting to install it. The action is quite well laid-out for 1911, and generally toolless aside from a punch to remove the mainspring housing retainer pin, but there are a lot of parts interactions that you would do well to understand before working on it. Give yourself an hour or two to fiddle with it unless you've installed an ambi before, and pay close attention to the manner in which the right-side safety blade is retained.

That's for the feedback on the ambi safety.

But the Charles Daly 1911s were made in the Philippines by Armscor.

Nothing special about Armscor frames with regard to safeties. I put an STI ambi in my STI Spartan (Armscor) and it has worked fine.

This is the one I install.  I don't like wide or extended safeties.  Unneeded.

Thanks!

I'll be ordering soon so that example helps a lot.

That Mueschke looks like the simple ambi safety I want.

My CD is a solid 1911 and I use it as my practice 1911 a lot.

I implied I'd be ordering an ambi safety soon. If the Mueschke is unavailable, as it appears to be on Brownells right now, I'll go back to my first choice of the Ed Brown.
