(Not my picture)

Just put it on lay away, and can't wait to get it.  30 tough days until it's paid off.
A holster seems to be hit or miss.  Waiting for Wes of Privateer Leather to see what he can do.
Two tone goodness just like my BHP Practical!!

Interesting for sure- is the frame steel or alloy? Looks like it may be some sort of talo limited edition?

It is a blued steel slide on a stainless steel frame.  My O4012 XSE is all stainless and is roll marked as a Combat Commander.  This shares the same model number (O4012), so would be steel.  The lightweight Commander will have a different model number.  And it is a Talo offering.  Not sure how limited it is though.

I always wanted a Combat Elite in a Commander size.  This is as close as I will get, even though it has a rail.

Very sexy!
Commanders are my favourite flavour of 1911.

I didn't know that Colt made Combat Commanders with a light rail. That's great! I have a special order Dan Wesson Specialist Commander with a rail and now they've added that pistol to their line up.

There are 350 of them, and mine should be here today. I can't wait!

Nice

If you're going iwb you can use a holster for a 5" gun.

Wes from Privateer Leather located a mold-gun for the Colt M45/Colt Combat Unit!  Ordered holsters for my CCU and the Commander last week.
His holster designs and leather work are top notch.

I really like the one I got recently. (I was able to find one at my LGS and traded a couple pistols to offset the cost)
The serial number is below 200, the slide to frame fit was tight. The dual recoil set up was great and it was accurate out of the box. The slide is roll marked "Government" instead of commander, which I believe there's quite a few floating around. (from other forum discussions)
I absolutely love it.
Also, I was able to find a holster that fits. It was an older Clament leather holster made for the 5" RG that I bought from ebay a few years back. It only took minor fitting, and saran wrap overnight to make it fit.  (Now it fits like a glove)
I'm gonna see if he still makes em and if he has any commander length.
Anyway, so far the only thing I added was the Hogue arch msh, pearce front groove and also tried a few Altamont grips to see which fits me better.

You're going to love it. The workmanship on mine is flawless. The fit and finish is great, and the trigger is very smooth with no creep. The only part I'd like to replace is the drop in beavertail for a gunsmith fit beavertail and then maybe have it melonited.

Congrats! How you like it so far?
I changed my front sight to Tru glo and what a huge difference.
The front sight just pops and Its a Tack Driver!
I also like the combination of S&A arched magwell and Hogue slim piranha grips, and kept it on after trying a few factory and Altamont grip combos.
(The Altamonts are beautiful tho)

Very nice looking 1911! I have a stainless XSE Commander, now it looks like I will have to get one with a light rail.

Finally got to shoot mine this afternoon.  200 rounds of my handloads.  No stoppages but was beaned about 10 times.  I'll fool w/ the extractor tension tomorrow.  Gun hits 6" gong/plate w/ boring regularity.   Steel IPSC target was a blast to hammer.  Also had my O4012XSE, but this gun was the star.  Less muzzle flip than my regular Combat Commander.  Or maybe I'm imagining this.  Either way this is a blast to shoot!
