Woo Hoo! I found a Chinese Makarov and finally secured it for my collection. I will now have Makarovs from all 4 countries that made them. I will post pics when it arrives.

Nah, the post-unification ones are not all that different from the pre ones.

I got the pistol and it looks fantastic. It is obvious on the inside though that build quality is not as good as the other makes. Also, will not feed Russian JHP rounds.

Shoots very accurately though. I will try to get a pic of all four and posat them here.

Point of information.... I HAVE A RUSSIAN commercial with adjustable sights and some of those rubber aftermarket grips but this gun won't shoot hollow points. I guess its just a fun gun.

Which country of origen would you recommend? I have been looking into getting one of these but cannot find anyone who knows enough about them to assist me in picking out the perfect one for me.

East German Mak's in my opinion are the best. The finish and the way they were made is superior to all others.

If you want a collecter Mak look for an original Soviet or Chinese Makarov.

The Bulgarian Mak's are the most current imports and would probably be the most easy to find and probably the cheapest at this time.

The Simson-Suhl Mak is the one most favored by collectors as not many are around.
