Went to a local sale to snoop around and found one of my grail guns ----
A beautiful Mauser M30! Bore is perfect and numbers match! It was apparently rebarreled to 9mm sometime in its history, but I wont complain. Oh happy happy day. |

And no import marks that I can find. The stock on the other hand, I believe is Chinese made.

Looks nice. Late 1930 model that has been bored to 9mm. You may be right about the stock, but if it is a copy it looks like one of the better ones and not the more common squarish ones.
After seeing what you paid for it though I hate you.
ETA: Just noticed the pattern on the button to open the top. That's a repro. |

My understanding is that it's exempt as long as it's an original stock, or a reproduction of an original stock with the same function and style. Looks like there are a lot of differing opinions on this, but I thought I remembered some ATF letter stating that a while back?
