dudes, i've only shot a pistol ONCE since last fall (borrowed sig, yowsa!).

it's not that the old colts ain't callin' my name...i've just been very busy. too damn busy, as far as i'm concerned!

3-position shooting has taken what little spare time i have and shoved it into a black hole.

so, i come here in search of guidance and inspiration! should i quit my job? divorce the wife? what?

campy, you have embarked on a journey of many avenues. In my opinion Sig and the 1911 are the foremost tops in the 45 arena.

If you are new to the pistol arena then go with the Sig P220 as it is one of if not the most accurate, reliable, out of the box pistols on the market

If you want to evolve into compitition or are familar with pistols especially single action autos go 1911. These will give you the best platform for custom work and build any level of space gun you desire, but for personal use and defense not much needs to be done to them except maybe a little tweaking

Personally I own both and wouldnt want to choose between the two

new to pistols? noooooo....i collect old colts, gots me a shiney s.a. loaded and a dull one that is a cheapo model...plus a few parts guns (still, mainly colt pieces parts). and then there's my makarov jones!

dithering on whether to get the walther p-22...and i still got the hots for a left-hand gov't slabside ruger to play with.

heheheh! c&l...i work as a design engineer at a machine shop! a machine shop full of firearms enthusiasts! there is no such thing a a "stock" 1911 after it makes a show & tell trip to the shop! lol! lowering...porting...ramp jobs...extra serrations...checkered straps...spring jobs...our own guides. that's right. our shop is full of die hard shooters. we STILL bring guns to work!

yes, an engineer with a gun, a machine shop at his disposal and a little idle time is a dangerous combination!! heheheh!

remind me to tell you about the night we went into the back building to test fire some hot loads with a newly assembled competition pistol...and ended up blowing the slide off, the mag out and the grip panels came off so fast they left checkering marks in my bud's hand!

It's hard to beat a SIG P226 in 9mm with preban factory mags.

Sigs are it! I sold my 220(replaced it with a Springfield 45), but I still have a P229/.40 a P229/9 and a P226/9.

If you put the postban followers in the P228/9 mags you can have 15 shots in a compact size gun.(17 rnds in a 226). I daily carry my 229/40 for sheer knock down but my favorite to shoot is the 229/9!
