I have wanted one of the Ultra-lites that Taurus and S&W have out there. I wanted a real lite .22 for camping, hiking and backpacking.
Taurus was more in my budget but I just couldn't get this S&W 317 .22, which I FONDLED, at the gun shop, out of my mind.
I finally decided to go with my gut feeling and the quality of the S&W 317 Kit Gun. It is Beautiful and only weighs 11.9 ozs. I've held water pistols, empty, that weighed more! It has a 3 inch barrel, High Visual front sight and factory Uncle Mick's rubber grips.
Can't wait to go out and shoot it.. My guess is that this will be the first .22 I'll shoot that has a "felt recoil".
Welcome back ARFCOM... I went through DT's...
You'll like this gun, as you would any S&W. I recently bought a S&W Model 63 in .22LR, a discontinued model. Why S&W makes only the 617/317 in .22LR is beyond me. There's a market for a 2-3" barrel .22 revolver that won't break the bank, IMO.
