Does anyone know of a source where I could get some dry fire dummy rounds I could use to practice dry firing my makarov with?

Why cant you just use a spent shell case from a round that has already been fired to practice dry firing with?

Could you just pull the bullet out and dump the powder, explode the primer, and use this?

Yes, you can use a fired case for a snap-cap. Snap-caps are available from the usual suspects: Brownells, Denny's, Midway, etc. etc.

Good luck!!

I heard you could use an old case before too, but then the owner of a local gun store told me that in a fired case there is already a dent from the pin so that it doesn't protect as well as a snap cap. Can anyone verify or disprove this?

The Mak is a commie gun made to be dry fired. I'd estimate my Bulgarian has about 5000 dry firings.

+1, you can dry fire a Mak without any snap caps or anything.

If for some reason you break something, replacement parts are extremely cheap.
