Why not just add the Glock 21 to your poll?

Not enough choices and I just forgot. But Glock would be a viable choice as well.

My issued 220 that I carried for alomst 2 years. It was painful turning it in when I changed

departments.

2nd to that I would have to say the Glock 21.

I swing with the glock.

1911 jams too much with out tuning
Sig stove pipes
USP is ammo specific
dont know the CZ

Yes I have owned all of those, just my opinion and its worth zero

The .45acp I trust completely is a Kimber Compact CDP.

Glock 21 is the only .45 I would trust with my life OUT OF THE BOX.

IMHO (and I realize this is a controversial assertion), the 1911 is outdated as a personal defense weapon. I say this as a person who has owned several, and who still shoots a 1911-derived pistol for IPSC. Its just too untrustworthy out of the box.

anyone who says 1911 is just voting out of pure love for the design.....when 1911 is mentioned I think of Rock Island Armory makes amongst all the other low cost POS 1911's out there. Sorry but even the good makers turn out not so reliable 1911's as well. We are no longer in the dark ages people!

i got to go with the Ruger P90. it feels great in my hand, shoots accurate, and feeds every time.

Ditto. Big. Kind of ugly. But 100% reliable. Seen way to many 1911's choke in IDPA matches to even consider using one.

My USPf .45 has eaten everything I've ever fed it to include various HPs, Wolf, reloads, misc. surplus, etc. etc.

Haven't had the same reliability with Glocks / Sigs but whatever people are comforable with is cool.

my 21 had two or three jams in the entire time I had it, my 23 and 36 I polished the ramp and chamber when I got them and never had a hiccup, my springer Gi I had to work on the extractor, it came with too much tension and I polished the ramps and chamber and I've been trouble free since

Smith and Wesson 1911. The best 1911 I've ever owned or tried. 100% reliable (so far). I have had .45 Glocks and one .45 Witness, and the SW1911 has been every bit as good, 100%, as the Glock.

Or, you have no idea what you are talking about! If you automatically think of cheap POS guns, that tells me you really have no clue as to what works and what doesn't! I chose a 1911 because it works, and it works everytime! It has nothing to do with "pure love of the design", and everything to do with IT WORKS!

Really? Maybe you should have bought my SA 1911's from me at full price instead of the trade in value I recieved from them. I'm well aware of the functions of a finely tuned 1911, but I don't/didn't want to keep sending them back to Geneso, IL for tweaks or fixes when they should've run 100% out of the box for the price I paid on them. 1911's need to be made 1 at a time by competent machinists, not the slammed out CNC full production MIM parts filled BS thats coming these days. I'm obviously not the only one who thinks this of 1911s.

If you'd like to trust a 1911 as your sidearm of choice, thats your perrogative, but know this, in my dept. 99% of us choose other sidearms. I can honestly tell you I've seen maybe 8-10 officers with 1911's. When I wanted more proof I went to the range and saw what the SWAT and armorers carried....care to guess what makes they had? Here's a hint, NONE were 1911's.

I would trust any of the ones that has been broken it and proved itself especialy the CZ 97 that did not get many votes and that out shoots my SA 1911s any day of the week. However I would trust none of them with out running some ammo in them. I may like one more than the other but all those you listed are fantastic pistols and I would trust any of them and own all but the USP which I used to own in 9mm and it is a great pistol also and worth owning for sure if it fits your bill. I just picked up an XD in .45ACP also but have not proved it yet. My Ruger P-345 runs 100% and I carry it all the time.
