I have a Sig 229 that I bought new last Spring. Since then I've been reading a lot of posts from people who say the 228 is better. I have considered trading it to a 228 before they go out of production. Is the 228 really that much better that I should trade my 229 in? I have heard some say that the 229 has a better DA trigger pull, is this true? Please tell me why I should or should not trade in my 229.

Is your P229 a 9mm or a 40/357?  I've got a P229 357 and a P228 (which is only 9mm).  The trigger on the P229 is a bit nicer, but thats more to it being a newer gun (different spec on the mainspring) than the model number.  P228's will be availiable for a long time, there are tons of them out there.  Unless you have to have NIB, don't sweat it.  Get a P228 for your 9mm needs, and a P229 for 40/357, thats what I did!

Yep the 229 is a 9mm and I bought it NIB. If I traded the P229 I'd want a NIB 228 so it'd cost me a little boot.

Keep the 229 it is the better gun. The slide is one piece vs. the 228's stamped slide. To me that is a huge difference in long term strength and durrability. In 9mm the 229 is a little over built but you are getting a stronger gun in trade for a little more weight.
