I am a L.E.O. and issued a Glock 22, 40cal.

If I had a choice I would rather carry a Glock 21, 45ACP.

I do carry a 1911.

Why?  Because I can.

Kimber Classic Custom Pre-Series II

Only things still factory are the slide, frame, barrel, and grip safety.

MIM-Ignition components finally started having problems after approximately 25-30K rounds.  Started to have hammer follow during malfunction clearing drills at a instructors course I was at.  That night I replaced them with parts from EGW.

Out of approximately 30K rounds the only malfunctions I have had were due to faulty ammo (no crimp at all, rounds still flared from expander, from large well known factory that starts with S), worn magazine followers (Wilson), and the hammer follow.  I trust it, and feel totally comfortable having "only" 8 rounds in the gun.

1911a1, a real one not any after market guns.  I want one that ratttles a bit when I shake it,  I can still hold in the black on the 50 ft target but its not a true hard baller.

I retired from the Anchorage police department in 1994.  A few years before we retired they started allowing use  carry autos.

The only problem I had with my 1911a1 was setting up a jam at the range when we were going through failure to feed/mal training.

I have other 45s set up for NRA 2700 matches for the hardball event,  yeap it shoots straighter but there are no alibies on the street.

Now if I had to choose a revolver you cant beat the Smith Model 28, that is one helleva service revolver, it wont shoot loose no matter what the loads.

The department let us keep our service revolivers upon retirement, so I still have my 1911a1 and the Smith M 28.  I'll let the kids fight over them when I die.

I've always liked the Glock-20 15+1 of the big full power 10mm makes me smile... BUT, it's not practical for the variety of size of the end users so.......

My Dept. issues Glock-22 .40sw which is my second choice...

I will be next year and if I had the choice I would choose either the SA TRP 1911 or my SA XD-45acp, both having 230grain  Federal Hydrashocks .

Right now I carry a Springfield XD in .40.

In a few months I will switch to a Sig P226...nothing against the XD, it's a great weapon and I will keep it around because I like it so much. But I just like the Sig platform better and I shoot better with it.

Backup is a Kel-tec .32....it's a bit small, but it's all I have atm.

All the XD's have is a slide release and a takedown lever.

From 1988-today:

M1911a1 (Army Issue)
M9 Beretta (Army Issue)
Colt Commander
Ruger P90DC
Springfield M1911a1
S&W M645
S&W Sigma 40F (Piece of shit)
Sig P220
Beretta Centurion (DOC Issue)

I'd say of all of those my favorite was the Sig P220.  Although the 645 is a close second.
