I like maxpedition. They have some good waist packs and such. I have the thermite and it works great for conceiling a pistol.

Probably the most compact, AND fastest fanny packs are made by Eagle, and an almost exact copy made Blackhawk.

Blackhawk calls their's the 5-5-10. This means that you can draw and fire 5 shots in 5 seconds at 10 yards.

These are compact, come in sizes and colors, and have elastic magazine holders built in.

Quality is very high, and they last a long time even under daily use.

Eagle makes their stuff in the US, I've heard that Blackhawk "may" have theirs made overseas, but I've never bothered to find out for sure, since my 5-5-10 is absolutely perfect.

Eagle calls their's the WFP (Weapon Fanny Pack).

Unlike most actual gun packs, these are more compact and don't look like the typical gun pack.

My suggestion for a fanny pack is not to wear one...

+1 on the Eagle, and Galco makes a very good one in the Escort as well.

Heard a great line from Dane Cook ragging on an audience member: What's in the fanny pack, instructions on how not to get laid?

Another vote for Maxpedition, the OD "fatboy" is the ticket, got mine from SKD

It's not "glow in the dark green" even though it looks like it here.

Does it come with a rainbow flag?

I was curious how long it would take, it's not ghey damn it. It's one of the most functional/flexable pieces of everyday gear I have & a G36 slips into the back perfectly.

Blackhawk 5-5-10. It's made to hold your weapon and has features to prevent you from losing your weapon. In other words, it can't be taken off your waist by a passing stranger...

Eagle makes a fine one, and it has beltloops on the back like the 5-5-10 CPUFed recommended. My only complaint is Eagles' spare mag set up.

If you are wearing a fanny pack you look like a cop tyring to hide the fact that you are carrying a gun. COMP-TAC makes a great IWB kydex holster. Check them out, they arent the cheapest but they are really great holsters

+1 on the Fatboy. I use several different packs for different environments but the fatboy is the one I use most when I'm just out and about. It seems like everyone is carrying some kind of pack, satchell, what have you to carry the phone, iPod, PDA and just stuff. I have to agree that the traditional fanny pack just screams cop/gun.

Just goes to show that you really don't know what you are talking about. The average everyday sheep is too busy being wrapped up in their ownselves to give a ratfuck about your gunbag. Further, if they were to notice, their first thought would be to report you to the Style channel. Fanny packs only scream gun to other gun people, of which probably 2/3 fall into the same category as those above.

In all things CONTEXT is everything.
If you're living in a very small Southern or Western town where people wear work clothes a fanny pack may stand out.

In most modern towns fanny packs are fairly common, and in cities and college towns fanny packs go totally unnoticed.

One common complaint is, "It LOOKS like you're carrying a gun".

SO?
CCW laws typically demand that the gun be concealed, NOT undetectably disguised.
Actually, having the Bad Guys suspect you're armed MIGHT not be too bad an idea. Most of them will go looking for some nice yuppie who'll be no threat to them.

As for the police, if you're legally armed, who cares if they "suspect" you're armed?
Unless they have genuine "probable cause" they'll never even ask in most situations.

Bottom line is, in most towns today, few people even notice a fanny pack, and fewer still think "Gun".

As for the usual jibes about wearing a "Fag bag" or "Sissy pack" few people are stupid enough IN PERSON to make fun of someone's wardrobe choices by laughing in the face of someone who just might be carrying a loaded gun.

Making smart mouthed remarks in an Internet forum is somewhat different when in person.

Because I want to be the grey man. I want to go completely un-noticed. Anything that might make me stand out from a crowd is a non-starter.

I hate the looks of fanny packs...so, I've been heavily considering the Maxpedition's fatboy...I noticed the Thermite...but it looks too small for a large frame auto with mags...is it?
