When I was still working I got two authorized for duty carry, a Sig Stainless Elite P226 and Sig Stainless Elite P229. I sold the P226 to a colleague. When I retired I got rid of (sold off) the P229 to a relative and started carrying my NHC full size 1911 10mm pistol. That was the last .40 that I owned. I prefer the superior 10mm cartridge.

I've had others over the years but I currently have three.
Gen 3 Glock 22. It was my issue duty gun for a lot of years. Mayor presented it to me when I retired. S&W M&P 2.0 Compact. Sig P320 FS Caliber Conversion Kit. Currently in an FDE carry grip frame. I like them all. Attached File |

Beretta PX4
USP CZ 75 My most underrepresented pistol caliber in my collection other than .45 (which I’m down to a single Glock 21SF). Hell, I have more .32’s than I do .40’s. I absolutely love my PX4 in .40. Such a great platform for the cartridge. |
Don’t know if I can remember all of the.
I currently have G35 gen 4 mos done up by TTI into the Jon Wick gun G22 gen 4 lots done to it. Similar to Jon wick gun 2 Glock 27’s 1 gen 3 and 1 gen 4 again lots of work done RIA 1911 One of my SBR’s is set up as a 40 Oh and the trusty HiPoint :-) Have had P320c Xdm G23–several Sig sp2340 Keltec sub2000 EMP That’s all I can think of for now REALY wish Ranger Point Tac was still doing the lever gun conversions. I would do that In a heart beat. |

0 - Never had any interest in the .40S&W and even less now that it's slowing fading away.

All my are .40's of some sort be it .40 S&W or 10mm. Because of the size I generally prefer the .40's for carry and the 10mm's are sorta just there, both take turns around the house.

Glock 35

G22
G23 P229 (my favorite .40) HK P2000 (actually a .357 Sig, but the .40 barrel is usually in it) |
I have two that I can run 40 if necessary as I have quite a bit of 40 ammo. Neither is currently set up for it but it is nice to have options.
S&W M&P compact purchased as a 357 sig. I bought a 40 barrel since the 357 sig and 40 share magazines. Later I also bought a Storm Lake 9mm barrel. It is currently set up for 9mm. S&W M&P Gen 1 full size police trade-in that I just purchased to run one of the Midway closeout Storm Lake 9mm ported conversion barrels. |
I have a CZ P07 and a USP 40.
I bought them both because they were cheap and I liked the "platform". The USP is really a sweet shooter, but it's a big, bulky gun. Bought some mags for it on the EE here, it's part of my regular range rotation. The P07 is much more svelte and only holds one less round (12 instead of 13). It's a little snappier than the USP but is still quite pleasant to shoot. I actually carry it on occasion. Midway blew out mags for it at around $10 a pop, so I picked up five more. Neither of them are my favorites but I'm happy to have them both. |
I reload my own so .40 S&W is staying in the household. Although no longer in fashion, the .40 S&W is still a formidable caliber.
STI 2011, Kahr CW40, G22, G35, and G23. |
I started off with one: a Sig SP2022. I still have it but it has been converted to .357SIG. It is just a barrel swap so it is trivial to go back.

Quoted: 0 - Never had any interest in the .40S&W and even less now that it's slowing fading away. View Quote This. I never really saw the point of the 40, even when it was really popular. If I want higher capacity I'll use a 9mm with quality ammo, if I want a larger round I'll tend to move to one of my 1911's in 45 ACP. But to each their own, whatever makes you happy you should go with. |
I have one...The highly underrated Walther P99 in .40...just saying.
Sig p229, 226, 2022.
The 226 is currently converted to 9mm. I have a 9 barrel for the 2022, but prefer to keep it .40. |
I still own a Sig P229 and Glock 22 in .40 S&W. Sold a FN-P40, Taurus PT-101, Hi-Power, and a Glock 22C.
1, a sig p229 sse. The only reason I still own it is because I wouldn't get back what I paid, and its a gorgeous handgun. I've owned 2 p226's, a usp, and dh40. But I could never hit shit with a 40 cal.

G22 Gen2
G23 Gen4 G35 Gen4 Kahr K40 Covert STI Edge Colt Stainless Series 80 S&W M&P40 1.0 So...it looks like I own 7. G23 is primary carry gun. Kahr used to be but is now a safe queen. I use the STI for USPSA Limited and the G35 as a backup. Sometimes used the G22 for USPSA back in the early '90's. The Colt left the factory as a .40 in the '90's and I used to use it in USPSA Limited, Lim 10 and Single Stack. Now it wears a Barsto 10mm barrel more-or-less full-time. |
P229, but I have the caliber xchange kits to convert it to 9mm and 22lr.
Also one of those CHP TSW 4006 |
I know it is cool to Hate .40, but I really like the round (nearly the capacity of the 9 with better terminal effect (all handguns are marginal - but I'll take every possible smidgen of an advantage I can get)
M&P Gen 1 Service .40 with 9mm conversion barrels. Got a rediculous great price on it and it shoots like a laser. Glock 22 with .357 Sig & 9mm conversion barrels. Was inexpensive, and just wanted to have a Glock - (but HATE the Glock grip angle) The 9mm barrels are cheaper to feed in practice with steelcase, while saving the Duty .40 for Serious Service. |
I took a page out of the @Blackfriar "4 caliber end of the world handgun" book and built a Polymer 80 G23C with .357 sig and 9mm conversion barrels. A .22 conversion kit may come at some point, because why not. The compensated .40 factory barrel makes it a pussycat to shoot and a good candidate for edc.
I'm working on getting a gen 3 G23 right now to run in my micro roni since I can't run the P80 without doing more work with the dremel. I had G27, G22, and sig 239 .40's that I got rid of over the years. I wish I would've kept the 22 and think a 23 will be as much fun in the roni as my G19-4. |
I've got 6
Glock 27 Glock 27 Glock 22 M&P Pro M&P Core M&P Shield Two were gifted from my FIL. I like 40 but am not tied to any one caliber. |
I don't own a .40 at the moment. I have nothing against the round. I am thinking I may get back into it at some point. A Sig P229 sounds good.
Just one now, a CZ100. I used to have an XD40 but traded it. I have a ton of brass and bullets for. 40, so I might snag another while they are cheap. I load a lighter bullet than a lot of the factory choices out there.
I own two:
SIG P229 (with an additional .357 SIG barrel) M&P 2.0 Compact |
Zero. I had an S&W 4006TSW, a Astra-75, a Witness fullsized in .40, and an FNS-40. The 4006TSW is the only one I even thought twice about selling, the rest have never been missed for a second.
These days, I have .22, .25, 32, .380, 9mm, and 45 ACP in semiautos.. |
A few years ago police trade in Glock 23's were $325 for almost new examples.
I bought two. One went to my nephew this year and the other to my oldest son. |
Three...
1st one is my very first pistol- Ruger P94 2nd is a first gen S&W M&P And third is the Glock 23 my dad killed himself with... Still haven't shot it since. |
Quoted: I stopped at three: Glock 23, Browning HiPower Practical, Beretta Cougar, and I'll probably keep them all. The Glock is by far the one I shoot the most and has more capacity at 13 than either the Cougar (11) or the BHP (10). The HiPower has IMO the worlds stiffest recoil spring, doubling as a self-launching impalement weapon if you run out of ammo. View Quote None. Still prefer .45 ACP. Any expansion is incidental. And 230 grains is almost exactly 1/2 ounce. |
Two. G22 &23. Need to sell them and buy either a G47 or G19.5. All my .40 short and weak ammo can be eaten by my G40.
1, a G27 but I have a 9mm conversion barrel in it and my wife keeps it in her truck, although I think I'm going to replace it with a G43X for her.
I'm not wild about her carrying a 40 with a 9mm conversion but it has been extremely reliable. |

Quoted: Id love to find a beretta 96 dao View Quote Ugh, good luck with that. You want a 96D Brigadier, which are hen's teeth. The overwhelming majority of those were INS/Border Patrol pistols, and they of course were shredded instead of being offered on the trade in market thanks to Clinton's EO after they switched to the HK P2000. The very hot 155 grain duty ammo beat the shit out of them though. They were decent enough pistols and as heavy as the day is long, 11 round mags were not something to get excited about. Next best thing would be the P226 DAK, its a better DAO than the Beretta. |
My first .40 was a HK USP 40 Compact. It was fairly nice to shoot, my first Glock was a police trade-in G22. It was almost like shooting a 9mm. Very nice to shoot. The last one I got was a LE Trade-in Sig P229 in .40 that I converted to .357 Sig. Not bad to shoot in .40, a little more kick and huge fireball in .357 Sig. About all I use now is 9mm and sometimes my old 1911.

A loaded beretta is still lighter than an empty 1911. I suppose its personal preference but i prefer berettas DA. I do like sigs dak though. Berettas are more revolver like imo. |
